I’ve lived a whole life since retirement from the Calcasieu School Board (Lake Charles, Louisiana) in 2010: worked as a Certified Art Educator with Houston and Beaumont ISD, traveled as the educator for The Carson Barnes Circus, worked the 2014 season at Johnson’s of St. Mary, Montana: at the Eastern gate of Glacier National Park and was a Beach Ambassador on the Bolivar Peninsula for Galveston County from March 2017-September 2018. Once again, I’ve come out of retirement, and will be a Certified Art Educator for Lufkin ISD at Lufkin Middle School in Lufkin, Texas.
The decision to move from Crystal Beach (on the Gulf of Mexico east of Galveston) was based on the fact that Crystal Beach is treeless and loaded with mosquitoes. The short list for a new residence included that within a 10 mile distance from home (without having to use a ferry or Interstate) there must be a HEB, Lowe's, Walmart, Sams and Tractor Supply.
At the end of September 2018. with the home sold in Crystal Beach and a new home purchased in Lufkin, a 24 foot U Haul, and a pickup bed full of select wood from dumpster diving and beach finds, I left the beach with a few cats and chickens and began the first of some 10+ trips before everything would get from Crystal Beach to Lufkin.
In my spare time I enjoy my cats and collecting non fiction books on Texana, U.S. History, Presidential, Biographies, Sports and Art/Photography. I also enjoy art museums, live music in small settings and wine. Texas Wine!
