I try to avoid going anywhere I can carry. If I have to go somewhere such as a government building I leave the gun at home. I don't like leaving a gun locked in a vehicle.

Although I prefer .40 S&W modern 9mm defensive ammo such as HST, Hornaday Critical Duty or Critical Defense is completive with any caliber.

I'm a year or so older than you and I can tell you that for me red dot sights make a world of difference for tired old eyes. If I could I would add a red dot to every firearm I own.

Patience.....A common issue I see with new shooters is many feel they need to make the gun go bang, bang, bang.

I have not however on a bird hunting trip as we loaded our shotguns one person racked a shell into the chamber and ended up pulling the trigger at the same time. Fortunately no one was hurt. That scared the living crap out of me!

Although I own both a Saint carbine and Saint pistol I've not put much thought into making one of them my home defense gun. After watching the video the AR would be a great option and I'm inclined to think in my case the Saint pistol would be the better option. Now I need to consider the nuts...

I'm one who is guilty of ignoring advice to stick with one EDC firearm. However in my defense I regularly train with my three chosen EDC firearms and average firing 250 rounds per week.

The 5.7 x 28 is a great round. I've been interested in it for some time but have not follow through mostly due to cost. The new Ruger has a decent price point. One may be in my future.

I dry fire practice 4 or 5 times per week and have for years. I've become a fairly good shot and I still find lasers to be distracting and they are not something I prefer to use.

The most recent good guy with a gun shooting that took place was in Texas at a church, within hours the media had printed everything it knew about the good guy. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The best home defense gun is one that you are comfortable with and one you can shoot accurately. Currently my primary home defense gun is a G22 with a 22 round magazine and mounted Tac light.

Hellcat OSP was designed to use Shield RMSc or JP JPoint RDS. I don't know of any other sights that will fit without modifications to the slide. Both of these sights are made to co-witness stock sights. I don't have the Hellcat yet but its on my list. I currently have three Glock MOS pistols...
