Does it count if my B&W was a Matador or a Montego? 70 Montego would have been great as a CHP vehicle, but a no-go on city streets. Matador 71-74…71 was great, but they got progressively worse each year. Crashed a 72 but survived!

In the Nam, my F.O. Team was co-located near a composite 175/8-inch battery. Given a choice, I preferred to use the 8-inch tubes…more accurate and a 200# projectile is impressive to watch. Didn’t know they had been phased out…shame.

I agree completely. IMO, the U.S. military has gotten bogged down in minutiae. Everything must be perfect or it’s a no-go. That last 5% can take forever. Too many flag officers who are administrators, not fighters!

Flew out to Catalina Island, Twin Harbors specifically. Had hunting licenses for a special hunt. Close as I will get to a safari. Stay at the Lodge, guided hunts, etc. First was on an amphibian. Not a PBY, Widgeon (?). Second time on a H-34. WishI I could do it again!

Saw one fired off at Sill in 1968. They had an open house and students-at Sill, and some civilians, were given a show of the artillery, from 105s to 8-inch to this rocket were fired off. Seems to me that disassembling them, they should have been sent to the Nam and fired off at NVA strongpoints.
