First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

I have two P320s (X compact and X5 Legion) Prodigy, Canik Rival S and My Staccato P. All fine pistols, but none are going anywhere. If you need the cash to make a purchase, I hear ya. But unless I have a pistol just sitting there collecting dust that never gets used, I try to keep mine.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

I’m looking at Wilson Combat wide for both my 2011s. Saw pics on 1911Addicts on a CS and C model staccato from another member. I have the Staccato P 4.4” aluminum. Both are fine pistols. Fit, finish overall on the Staccato is much, much better. Price tag worth it? To me, yes. Depending on...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

@Mgar64, pure curiousity, what kind of ammo you running through it? With similar work to mine, but no DTS, all EGW internals, I’ve got north of 3K rounds without a single issue, including 400 to 500 round with Staccato mags. Only issues I’ve had were shooter induced, not locking back on last...

    Prodigy Questions -

When I’m at the range by myself.. I’ll shoot my Staccato 70%, Prodigy 20% and Rival S 10%. Frankly, I typically just bring the Staccato and Rival To the range and still shoot the Staccato much more often. I have 1200 to 1400 through it.. well over 6K rounds through my Prodigy and roughly the 2K...

    Prodigy Questions -

Funny, you went reverse of how I did. I went prodigy 4.25 first. It sucked. Sent it in to SA for warranty, back very quickly, it’s been an ammo eating, accurate great shooting pistol since. At 2500ish rounds, I put an EGW kit in it. Really cleaned up the trigger. Couple months ago, I went...

    Are you a fair tipper?

Yes, there is no rules/regulations for this. Around here, at some places, if the party is 6 or more, it’s typically 15 to 18% gratuity added. Here’s the key.. If I get a good server, who mentions…gratuity is already added.. I’ll still add a few bucks on top of that. One, I appreciate good...

    Are you a fair tipper?

Can’t speak for other that Michigan…but I’m sure others are similar/same. If tipped wages plus tip credit wage (Was less than minimum) don’t equal at least minimum wage, the employer has to make up the difference. Rarely, does this happen. If it does, its a sign of either…very, very slow night...

    Are you a fair tipper?

Frankly, you’re better off tipping credit card. Traceable. Wait staff can be crooks too. When I used to run reports on wages…tips left on credit cards were always in the 20% range. Cash tips are 8%. Does that mean charge card users are better tippers? No. It just means they don’t report their...

    Are you a fair tipper?

For good service, I tip pretty much anywhere. I’ve been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. For tip credit employees (Waitstaff earning less than minimum wage) I tip well for good service, really well for excellent service. Most places tip pool, in other words that server shares...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Sorry boys, wrong forum, wrong thread… LOL… That’s on me. Agree, it should come with a two piece that doesn’t require a tool. I will go one step further… I really like the Atlas tool less guide rod. I know some have reported issues with it..from what I recall is was mostly with hotter ammo and...

    It’s not… my comment was in comparison to a tool less… :)

What...are we moving onto micro analysis of guide rod snobbery? LOL Factory two piece is just cheaper and less moving parts. I never had an issue with mine loosening up.. I did have an issue remembering to tighten it down… lol.

Prodigy vs RIA Pro Ultra (guest starring John Wick!)

Be prepared to do some grinding on that Vortex. Even though the footprint matches the included plate, the body is a hair long. Had to file the front of mine, others have as well. Good shooting!

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

I’m a bit of a trigger snob so I’m told. And no…I’ve never shot a high end 1911 to be clear. I’ve shot plenty of other pistols, hammer and striker fired. Mostly striker fired until December when I got my Prodigy and a month plus ago when I got my Staccato. For triggers…my list. 4 range/target...

    Update: prodigy issues

My list looked similar to yours, my serial is 22xxx, they replaced my sear spring and adjusted tension on the extractor. I too think the chamber depth (Reaming) is a big cause of the issues with these. Well over 5K though mine, probably approaching 6K now. I did replace the recoil spring...

    Prodigy DS - Aftermarket Thread

Well done. Followed a similar path, I just skipped the Tisas. I agree, I’ve handled a few at my LGS…they are actually nice pistols especially considering the price point, they had better aesthetics and better build quality than several big name company pistols at a much hither price point.

    Prodigy DS - Aftermarket Thread

Looking forward to how you like it. My Prodigy out of the box came in…if I remember…between 4.5 and 5lbs. From what I read, the DTS goes 3.75 to 4#. I’ve yet to see that EGW out of stock. The kit with the 17# mainspring was out of stock, I simply bought the kit then added a 17# mainspring for...

    Prodigy DS - Aftermarket Thread

I used to think the same thing. Until I did it. Within 20 to 30 minutes an a youtube video or two, you could do the whole EGW kit. With the sear spring adjustment, another video, a very good one from Atlas on how to adjust and what to look for…you could do that one too… even show you how to to...
