First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Mine was almost 6 out of the box, way too heavy. But super crisp.

Well, I ran about 150 rounds of magtech and 50 rounds of Win Nato Ball which is scooting out at a claimed 1320fps. Pretty hot stuff and my preferred commercial bowling pin load. No movement or loosening of the sight, and zero did not shift. I was pretty aggressively yanking on it while...

    Prodigy 4.25" Front sight

They must have because I just sent mine in and they drilled and pinned the front sight post on mine. Got it back today.

Sometimes I am not the sharpest tool in the shed. Just thought. Hey dummy, if you want a perfect co-witness use washers equal to the shroud thickness you fool. lol Much better and can see the sight perfectly for backup. First with dot off, second with dot on. .

You should be fine. Watch a few videos. Don't worry about replacing or polishing any parts. The MIM will get even smoother and they are surface hardened and I don't like to mess with very thin hardened layers. Just the simple bending of the sear spring leafs will get you a long way. Do not buy...

I just adjusted the spring tension after my first or second range trip. Has at least 2k through it. Probably more, i quit counting. It ran 2lbs 11.8 oz just now for 3 pulls. Has room to go lower but it isnt broken so i dont plan to fix it. It is really easy to do. I also forgot to add that i...

I just decided to grind and then file down the studs this morning. Had to use the shroud or would have had too file off a thread or two. We will see how it holds. Will get to the range tomorrow.

So the mounting holes to the plate match, it is just the lugs on the plate that do not.

Got my plate for the DPP which has the same footprint as the Rome 1 Pro I had waiting to install. Unfortunately the lug pattern is different. ARRRGGHHH. There is no way to even file them smaller to fit. I am going to give the plate folks a call. If there is nothing coming or they can't make...

That is what I was coming here to post. Lol. I am going to call them Monday since my new Romeo 1 Pro 6 moa just showed up. By the way mine continues to run like a champ. I even stopped cleaning it. Just lube after shooting. I was running the 13lb spring last outing since I was switching...

Yes. Absolutely. But lets keep this thread on track about front sights. I have read about your aversion to common multi industry antivibratory locking agents that are specified by engineers across industries and used daily. No need to rehash it here.

    Prodigy 4.25" Front sight

FYI my 4.25 does have a hole in the sight but not the slide. When I asked CS about it they said there is no set screw or pin so I just used red loctite. If it comes loose again I will send it in.

Took my P 4.25 out yesterday and ran another 200 trouble free rounds of the Winchester Active Duty stuff. Now I am making it a game of how long I can go without cleaning. Have been through a thousands rounds. In fairness I do slather it in oil and keep a rag handy to wipe of the excess when...

    ARE YOU THE 1 %

The vast majority of successful self defense encounters involve people with no tactical training. If there are 2.5 million self defense uses of firearms a year and everyone trained well.... I think training classes for a gun would be like taking training class to use a weedeater. It is not...

How to Carry a Handgun: 5 Carry Positions

First Timer’s Guide to Buying a CCW Pistol

I would also recommend a small frame 38 special. In particular a Ruger LCR. The trigger is not really that hard to learn. I have had many women do just fine out to 10 yards in a very short period of time. Most will rarely shoot it and will want to carry in a purse. It can shoot from a purse or...

    Nice going Illinois

We all voted over 80% Red in Greater Illinois. It is weird because in Greater Illlinois we have very low property taxes. Most under 2k a year. Safe streets. Kids walk to school. Neighbors all know each other and help out. Everyone hunts, shoots, and carries. We do not teach hate and perversion...

Was able to get mine out again yesterday with a buddy and we were shooting lot of rifles and hand guns so only ran 150 round of that nasty Grind ammo(which is the only stuff that has had repeat issues due to undersized cases and varied powder charges, but have another 500 rounds to get rid of)...
