The M116 PACK HOWITZER MAINTAINS ITS THUNDER

The 75mm M116 Pack Howitzer was designed in the United States in the 1920s. It met a need for a compact artillery piece that could be moved across difficult terrain.

The gun saw combat in World War II with the U.S. Army, primarily by airborne units, with paratroopers using them either landed in the knocked-down form delivered via silk or as fully-assembled guns landed by gliders.

Brings back memories of my ROTC instructor days. Our resident artilleryman figured out how to order one and it arrived fresh in cosmoline. We broke down the breach, cleaned it up, and it was our football game touchdown gun and it did a great job. This was 40 years ago and I wonder if they still have it.
