I use both styles of receivers and it can get tricky when it comes to upper receivers because the lower receiver back cut can be ArmaLite but the barrel nut threads may have a DPMS thread pitch which have 16tpi and Armalite has 18tpi. BCGs are also specific to the barrel extension of either the DPMS or Armalite style. My AR .308 rifles both take a DPMS style barrel so finding parts is a lot easier.

Sounds like solid advice brother.
The Aero M5 set is really easy to get all the correct parts for.

I'd personally try and stick with a DPMS profile upper as there are way more options for barrels and BCG's.
