All, they seem easy to replace, but…
Does anyone know how long an FO tube should keep its ‘brightness’ ? Are they expected to degrade?

Do cleaning fluids/solvents affect service life ? I’m thinking of discoloration, damage, etc.

Not sure on how long they last, guess it depends on use, but Fiber Optic strands used for firearms sights are typically made of polystyrene. Same as with Styrofoam. On cleaning solutions beware of Acetone and a few other chemical agents. A very short article explains:
