Great article Mike. When married and living in Connecticut we lived on a dead end street in a city/rural setting.
At that time I owned and operated a contracting company doing home restoration as well as general home repair. The point I’m getting to I was always quick to assist neighbors with their home repairs making it a point to focus on the elderly and doing most if not all there work for next to nothing or free.
The neighborhood watched over each other and we had one of the first block watch Programs in place in the city.
I live in a rural community. I know all my neighbors and we have quite an interesting group. most are veterans with a good mix of Marines, Army, Navy, and Air Force vets. Some of us were operators and all of us belong to the local gun club. We have been assisting each other for years now here in Hurricane country.
