Great read! It's always good to see something like this where you get clear proof that a gun can put some serious rounds downrange. Guns aren't cheap (particularly nice ones) so its good to see when one has been proven that it will last a while. Another added bonus in the article was the tips from the Springfield Armory guy on service and maintenance on 1911s. Great read! Been a long time fan of Ayoob's writing, so it's nice to see his stuff on TAL.

I found what was interesting was the mention of the DPM Systems recoil piston system....
never heard of that, though I am a recreational shooter.
i bought one of the recoil systems for my .45 to check it out.
Excited to see if it works as well as the competitive shooters say it does

Great article! My first issued 45 was a Remington. I was ok with it. My next duty station I was issued a Springfield. Bar none much better.... I've carried a Springfield now for 40 years...
