Olight Baldr Mini Product Review
By: Kevin Lord
Olight has been bringing industry leading weapons mounted Tec-Lights to us sense 2006. They release new products annually. This year is no different. With the push for smaller compact weapons comes the need for smaller compact weapon-mounted Tac-Lights. Olight has achieved this in past years with products such as the Pl-Mini 2 Valkyrie. They always release these on their Elite Day. This year is no different. They have yet another great advancement in weapon mounted Tac-Lights in a small but just as powerful package. Please let me be one of the first to welcome the new Olight product at our disposal. This year Olight brings us the Olight Baldr mini.

The Olight Baldr Mini offers an adjustable attachment rail that can be used on both your Glock rails and 1913 sized rails. The Baldr Mini is equipped with a 600 lumen 130 meter max throw light. The Baldr Mini also comes equipped with a green laser for easy daytime and night-time target acquisition. The Baldr Mini has a built-in 3.7v 230mAh rechargeable battery (Olight signature charger included). The Baldr Mini has a new and unique setting selector switch. The unit weighing in at 3.07oz has a continuous runtime of 40 minutes, and even has a red light on the side that lets you know when the battery is at 10%. Let me break each of these features down a bit more for you.

Attachment of The Baldr Mini on my Springfield XDs Mod2 .45 ACP took only seconds with the unique attachment system it comes with. This system allows you to adjust exactly where the Tac-Light sits on your pistol. When you attach this unit to your chosen pistol using Olight’s QD Swing-Arm located on the left side of the unit. Before you lock the swing-arm down the unit slides forwards or backwards to the desired position on your carry pistol. Once locked down the unit is secure from movement.

The Baldr Mini comes equipped with a powerful 600 lumen light that has a 130 meter max throw. Giving you visual distance of just over a football field. The Baldr Mini also comes equipped with a green laser. What is unique about this is the location of the green laser. Instead of being on the bottom of the unit the Baldr Mini has this laser integrated in with the light. The laser sits just below the barrel. Between the barrel and light. What this does for you is it gives you a more accurate zero in comparison to lasers mounted below the lights. Zeroing takes minutes using the two Allen head set screws located on the right side of the Tac-Light. The front screw being for up-down adjustment and the back screw being for the left-right adjustments. The allen head tool is included and also fits the bolts for the Glock rail and Picatinny rail change out, needing only one tool to get the job done.

Switching between the settings can be done with ease and while the unit is on. The Baldr Mini has a new unique 3 position switch located on the bottom of the Tac-Light. Its location allows your support hand to slide the selector to the desired setting. The selector has clear defined clicks to let you know its in the desired setting. The settings are as follows moving from right to left 600 lumen light only, 600 lumen light/Green laser, And Green laser only. The Baldr Mini also has a momentary feature. Momentary feature is operated by simply pushing down and holding one of two ambidextrous on/off switches.

The Baldr Mini comes with a built-in 3.7v 230mAh rechargeable battery. Meaning once its on your pistol and the laser is zeroed you don’t have to worry about losing that zero because you had to change the battery. Instead simply attach Olight’s (included) signature magnetic charging cord to the bottom of your Tac-Light and allow to charge. In the instance of an emergency you don’t have to worry about having to unplug the light to use the pistol as the charging cord simply falls away from the Tac-Light. Hassle free no mess no fuss.

Don’t miss your chance to own one of these Baldr Mini’s for an affordable price of $90.97 if bought on their Elite Day 2020 which is August 13th, 2020, saving you 35% that’s $48.98. If bought after the Elite Day 2020 event the unit still has an affordable price of $135.95. Link to this product can be found at the end of this article.
