Bought my first pistol. SA XD .45 I immediately liked the feel when I held it and even more when I shot it.
Naturally, I want to buy some accessories for it. Any advice on a red dot optic and light? Something reasonable that won't break the bank.
How easy is it to install both?

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on the purchase of your new Springfield Armory XD .45 Pistol. As far as an optic is your pistol the OSP version with a slot milled in the top of the slide with a cover plate and three screws? If not you will have to buy a mount that replaces the rear sight and an optic to fit that mount. I would look at the optic in the Springfield Armory store and the TACTICAL LIGHT. Here is a link to the optic I recommend. They both are easy to instal if your firearm is OSP ready.

I have a SA XD45 Mod 2 4-inch. Solid handgun, I don't run an optic, I really like the red fiber optic front sight. I run a Crimson Trace CMD-209 Railmaster tac light on it. I also have an Inforce APL-C tac light that I keep back just in case that fits great on it also. I got the Crimson Trace on sale for $59.99. The Inforce was a bit harder to find so I ended up paying $90.00 for that one. Currently I have the Crimson Trace mounted, but either light works very well.
