This is likely a bit off topic, but I really wish kids now could have seen a Soviet bread line. The Soviet Union wasn't really socialist but it certainly wasn't capitalist, either. The kids might be singing a different tune about going full socialist if they saw what we saw in the 1980's. All they know now are the benefits of our limited forms of socialism and none of the drawbacks.
I have a tendency to chat people up when I go to a store, usually the checkout clerks and sometimes the guy stocking shelves. They've all told me the same thing: we get trucks in all the time, then people panic buy everything the next day. Sure enough, I went shopping before work today and all the soups, pasta, and rice that had been gone the evening before had magically reappeared. The supply chain will endure just fine.
