An FYI for everyone for those who wondered why the US Marines were noted for 250 years before the United States Navy this year, I dont know the reason except maybe someone wanted the United States of America to be noted as being a bunch of tough guys instead of sailors, I don't know personally. Also, in 1834 the US Marines were integrated as a Department of the US Navy, and remains there to this present day, FYI. I myself RETIRED after 20 years serving my country as a US Navy Sailor in 2005 and am proud to have served...

I did say happy birthday to the Army, Navy, and Marines. The Air Force… eh, they’re still pretty young all things considered. Now the coasties were really forgotten about, being 235 years old on August 4th. Also, when I worked on a Navy base as a civilian, the USAF guys got cake for the Navy’s birthday and the Navy (military and civilians) got absolutely nothing.
