My wife and I joke that we should go to Mexico and come back across into AZ or CA with a few thousand illegals. Then get a free $5,000 gift card, free cell phone, free transportation anywhere in the country, free food, free education, free healthcare, free hotel stay and whatever else the government is giving away this week.

Nope! This is the application for both initial and renewal.
The references (coworkers, domestic partners, and neighbors) and psychological exam is waaaaay over the top.
You won't be able to evidence most of that. The one-time transportation is true, but that's a benefit to the state of entry.
