Depending on your cheek weld lifting the rds up can work, unless the mount is obstructing it?
The mount would obstruct the view through the factory sights and the rds itself would be to high for the cheek riser or cheek piece or colm or... Not sure what you call that part of the stock?
 
Hmmmmm? Well, even if the RDS is on the forward picatinny rail vs where it is now. I think its definitely closer to the eye than an arms length. I think the RDS came with a picatinny rail mounting plate. I still have the factory box it came in . If so, I'll see if it makes a difference mounted further forward.

Replace the factory scout mount with a light, cool running scout hand guard imported from Canada from M14.ca The SHG allows you to mount optics as low as possible, low enough that you can co-witness your iron sights through some red dots.
