Would You Have Said Anything?

Open Carry is legal in El Paso County Colorado.

This happened in the Walmart in Falcon. If it happened in the Big R in Peyton I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

Man in his Sixties, dressed a rancher the tail of his shirt hung up on a revolver.

That Walmart is the only one in Eastern El Paso County. A lot of Farmers and Ranchers come to that Walmart..

A lot of the folks that live in eastern El Paso County don't have permits. They all but cover their firearm so just enough of it is exposed that they're "Open Carrying".

If I had done anything I would have just said hey your shirt's hung up by your back pocket.

I considered it for a minute and decided to mind my business.

It is my understanding that Walmart does not permit open carry in any of its stores, nationwide. Now I'm not sure what your CO Walmart location allows, but if they say open carry is not allowed, I kind of figure you have to abide by that. Maybe he thought he was concealed but obviously wasn't. I might have told him quietly that he was "printing" and just mention that I didn't want to see him get in trouble. He probably was one of the good guys. Now if it had been a gangbanger type, I would have shut up about it. I don't go looking for trouble. You have to assess the situation every time.

The last time I noticed the sign was in Colorado Springs and it said "We request they use that word specifically and they emphasized it specifically) that you not openly display a firearm in our stores.

I never Open Carry so I never bothered to look.

My Grandma lived to be 99 and had all her teeth whem she died. Her secret…..she minded her own business

Seriously though as a trainer (and by trainer I’m a Rangemaster Advance Instructor, retired FLETC and Indjana LE Academy instructor and delt with inner city gamg bangers that told me all how they steal guns and have seen my share of crime first hand)

I see so many cringeworthy carry methods that I have aneurisms. And as much as I want to tell them how jacked up they are it really isn’t my business , and they don’t care they probably know everythjng and either they will figure it out or they will be a statistic.

I am over caring about what other people do just stay over thwre with the dumb stuff!

Hi,

Open Carry is legal in El Paso County Colorado.

<snip>

Man in his Sixties, dressed a rancher the tail of his shirt hung up on a revolver....

In a holster? Did the holster have retention?

I don't know if I would've said anything, depends on the situation and demeanor of the subject. If conditions were favorable I might've said, "Hi. Do you know your 'friend' is showing?" Maybe I wouldn't want him to get in trouble, or have some cretin snatch his gun. Then again, maybe I'd avoid him just in case he was there to start trouble. Situational awareness, trust your instincts.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

i suspect that at that walmart, like mine, which does have signs posted, "no open carry", but yet so many carry in that area, that had it been an issue, any employee would have seen that, and reported it to the on duty manager. via thier 2 way radios.

best to not have gotten involved, unless it was someone in full tactical gear, then you scram, and call LEO.

save yourself first, in that situation.

There is no signage at any of the Walmart stores in Texas that I have entered. The signage is specific to state statute in Texas.
