1970s VS 2026 thinking

In the 70s the big crime was a mugging by some unwashed hippie with a switch blade. Thats where the 3 shot 3 seconds at 3 feet nonsense got its start. In the 70s it may have been correct but this is 2026. The switch blade has been replaced with the Glock Switch and Hi Capacity mags. Today Bad Guys can be seen using rifles and rifle pistols to rob stores.

That single hippie, today comes in multiples with multiple guns

No hippie in 1970 wore body armor but today it can be cobbled together for $50 from the Depot and bought on eBay for $100. Now its against the law to wear body armor to commit a crime; but is the guy who's already committing a crime, really worried about another crime?

Even if hes not wearing armor, is he decked out in a chest rig with stacks of ammo? OR maybe a bomb? Today the shooter is just as likely to be a psycho or a crazy religious zealot, willing to die while hes killing.

Maybe its time to reconsider the 3,3,and 3. Its at least 50 year old thinking and no longer current.

Dear God Nooooooo. If I want fish I go to McDonalds, they put cheese on it.

I do miss Fish and Chips from a certain tavern in East London, that I might have spent a few long nights at they serve it with mashed peas....
that's where i go...Micky D's for my fish sammiches...

Wendys puts lettuce, pickles and mayo on thiers......

fish and chips at many places here are dripping oil from all over the place.......

hard to find a decent oil-free dinner...

us old guys gotta watch our...cholester-oil

I think it was George and the Dragon (but dont hold me to that, some of those nights were foggy). They gave you a piece of Cod that extended past both sides of the plate. It was fat, deep fried, crunchy, and moist but never oily.

Ive never found a place in the US that serves fish like that. Its always fish squares. Masked peas is something I never found anywhere beside Britain.

All the more reason why standard capacity mags should be legal everywhere. I am limited to 10 rds but my carry gun is made for 13 or 15 with and extended mag. I will always be at a disadvantage for following the law. 🤬

Mushy peas are from the North. No self respecting fish and chips shop in London would serve mushy peas. Or curry sauce on chips.

Well they are/were a pretty common side, at least the last time I was there. I will admit, I was a bit skeptical of them at first; but I like "regular" peas so I gave it a try and liked it.

I was (and I guess still am a huge Anglophile, even wrote letters to the Ministry of Defense about wanting to join The Army. Sadly (at the time) it wasnt possible. This was in my adventurous period, had a big argument with Mom & Dad when I announced I wanted to drop out of University to go to Rhodesia...lots of tears (some even from Mom); ended up in US Army but did get to spend some time with the Brits. It always bothered me that I missed the Falklands with the Paras at Goose Green

Sadly Britain isnt Britain anymore

us here as well.......i seriously do not believe any of us will ever see those hi-cap mage anymore, in OUR states...as i think the US supreme courts could really GAF about the constitution and the amendments themselves.

Back in 1970 a five shot revolver of tiny 32 was probably enuf' for a single Hippy. This is 2026 Im not sure its the perfect all around carry gun anymore. Yes for some occasions but not as a general carry.
from what i have been told from "some" cops, retired mostly, is that some of todays thugs are so hopped up on some sort of shiot, that nothing short of a bazooka will take'em down...

a "pea shooter" might scare off some, but then i'd hope that gun owner, had better be able to run, run like Forrest......
