Someone pulled in the driveway after 9 last night, i was into the usual dirty movie. i had some stuff coming and a couple by some weird named carrier. anyway they sit there for about 5 minutes and left. i thought well they didn't come up to the porch to deliver so musta been a turnaround.

i did look on my email and nothing said delivered. then this morning i got a delivered notice. so i go outside and look and nothing on the porch. said surely they didn't put it in the mailbox. think that is a federal crime. sure enough it's in the mailbox. now i don't mind it but isn't the post office the only ones that use a mailbox? i thought it was a federal crime for any delivery company to use a registered mailbox.

Here's another question fer ya, This is what they delivered. it's an auto electrical disconnect. now this thing was 5 bucks and free shipping. i didn't know it at the time ot may have looked elsewhere. but it was shipped from mainland china and stayed in customs for a few days. now my question. how does anyone make any money on a 5 dollar item with free shipping all the way from china?

I think Amazon or the other carriers have an agrement with USPS that they can leave things in mailboxes. I often get amazon deliveries in my mailbox.

mass production from cheap materials, like the american steel they get to recycle.....

i never used one of these things, i got out of the business decades ago....

but be very careful

remember china uses the Imperial measurements, and as such, not American SAE sizes, nor metrics...

meaning

that tool "could be larger, or smaller" than the connector you need it for, and ""could break or jam" the connector, then you gotta go up schitt's creek to get a replacement connector....like a junk yard........or god forbid, a dealership

Easy: slave labour

Been up for a while. It's raining and cool here, which seems to bring out and amplify every ache in my body  😒. But I have to put my house back in order...it looks like a construction zone in here still, and I didn't have the energy to do it last night after work.

We had new transom windows installed this week, The sun literally bakes the inside of the house in summer months, and there's a lot of glare from the west and the south. These windows are awesome! When you look out of them, it looks like you're seeing through polarized sunglasses. It wasn't as spendy as we thought, and it was worth it. It should keep the AC cost down.

It's kinda hard to tell today because it's overcast, but the one on the right is the old one (a suction cup let loose and they broke one and had to reorder it), and the one on the left is new. They really do make a difference in the sun.

We have also moved around 80 yards of soil into the yard (and we're not done yet) to level things out and fill in by the concrete. We planted and mulched the juniper bushes and Jacob's Ladder plants, but we have another ten or so bushes to plant further down.

So, it's slowly taking shape. The garden shed is next, and then the fire pit. No soil this weekend because it'll be too soft to move it, and we'll be out of town for the 4th next weekend. Man, Minnesota summers are way too short. 😎
