I seriously doubt that this hasn't been in the works for sometime now. Glock undoubtedly has a plan for the future of their company and are ready to pursue it.

Perhaps if nobody (outside of the military and LE field people) got back pay there would be a greater impetus to get it fixed.
Add to that there should be a limit on continuing resolutions, say perhaps three, before a budget must be passed.

My experiences with Walther customer service has been beyond horrible. That won't be an issue if you don't need to have warranty work done, but it's certainly something you may want to consider.
