October 23, 1983 241 US Marines killed in Beirut Lebanon

According to a Marine buddy of mine it was a case of crappy rules of engagement dictated by a State Department hack.

An Army brigade’s trial by fire against Iranian drones

I echo one of the comments at the end of the article. Courage, innovation and tenacity of this unit is outstanding, but going into this deployment without the training and equipment to counter this threat is borderline criminal especially since we have been having drone wars with Iran since the...

Toyota Hilux Sales Forecasts Plummet After News of Mid-East Peace

On a serious note, in the Gulf War era and after, some Arab SF units used armored Hilux as their main vehicle. Heck, if offered here I'd get one armored or not.

    Country music Icon

The 90s saw pop music going into the tank. This is about the time CW started filling the void and eventually took the pop music mantle. This is also the time the Nashville CW music establishment started moving to the left with the acts following suit. Hope you get well Alan.

"Belly Armor for SouthEast Asia is not deemed a legitimate requirement...."

Loved the LRF. We did not have TTS. The first time I heard of TTS on Sheridans was Desert Shield/Storm with 72d Armor of the 82d Airborne, but I never had personal experience with it.

"Belly Armor for SouthEast Asia is not deemed a legitimate requirement...."

Thankfully, by 1976 we had the full belly armor kit installed and, as the schematic notes, retained the functionality of the escape hatch. BTW, the 551A1 still moved out martly with no degradation to mobility IMO. Yes, the swim requirement was a joke. The flotation barrier was a maintenance...

    What is going on…..

The numbers of troops on psycho-tropic drugs before we went into Iraq would shock you just as I was shocked during an AMEDD AAR in the fall of 2003. Another shock was that they didn't discuss root causes of this scandal, but rather how to get more pills into theater. I imagine after the Gulf...

    11 Must-Have Survival Skills

If possible, don't ration water; conserve it. I.e, use it wisely. Rationing should be a last resort.

I've fired .308 and milspec NATO 7.62x51 from different sources in my L1A1 and never had a problem.

When they start questioning a brigade of the 82d Airborne sent to Detroit in the late 60s then I'll pay attention.
