I grabbed it with an old fashioned Channel Lock pliers and gave it a good twist.

I removed and reinstalled the trigger mechanism and now it feeds like it should. Whoever came up with those large flathead screws must have been dropped as a child - more than once. Unless you have arms like Popeye you're not able to get them very tight.

Looking at the bottom of the bolt it appears the bolt is rubbing on the top cartridge in the magazine. Just ordered Dykem Hi Spot Blue to check it out further. Will call SA and get their thoughts on it. Thanks

Hi, new M1A owner here. I can not get the safety to engage on my rifle. I am reluctant to smack it with a hammer and wonder if removing the trigger mechanism will allow me to move the safety back and forth. Thanks.
