Excuse my ignorance, but what is a 'reaction rod?'

I had one, along with the 50-round mag and cello case. Fun to shoot, but, yeah, cut myself several times on sharp edges.

Does anyone have any information on removing the muzzle blast deflector from the Springfield Saint Pistol 7.5 inch barrel 5.56? I want to put a suppressor on, but the muzzle blast deflector will not budge! Thanks.
