Can a SOCOM 16 Stop a Bear Attack?

Truthfully, I don’t know which would be more nauseating………getting pepper-sprayed or having to listen another 10 seconds to the shrill, shrieking ear-busting voice of the unhappy kayaker. In any case, the bear wasn’t paying too much attention to either. And this bear represented the docile end...

Can a SOCOM 16 Stop a Bear Attack?

In your dreams. What if the wind is howling, like it often is in AK? Or pouring down rain, as it often is in AK? Plus, if you don’t know what “charge momentum” is then you better find out before you risk your life on “bear irritant in a can”. Good luck to you………hope all the weather factors...

Can a SOCOM 16 Stop a Bear Attack?

The problem is the boar has his own “knife”. And, he knows how to use it.

Can a SOCOM 16 Stop a Bear Attack?

Here is a pic of the skull of the bear shot by Bella Twin. When a grizzly charges you make sure you step to the side so you may place your 40 grain .22 bullets exactly where she placed hers. Oh, and when in the bush be sure to carry TWO Buck 110 Folding Hunters; after all, you may need a...

Can a SOCOM 16 Stop a Bear Attack?

You may wish to confirm this with your ranger friend, but culling an elephant herd that most likely is not even aware of your presence (otherwise you wouldn’t get them all) is not the same as a face-to-face encounter with a charging grizzly intent on doing you serious harm. It is not a question...

Can a SOCOM 16 Stop a Bear Attack?

I spent 7 safari seasons in Africa. If you need to kill something big, dangerous and angry you shoot it with a rifle……..a BIG rifle. Any way you slice it the .308 is woefully inadequate for in-your-face AK bear encounters; ditto for buckshot in a shotgun.

Is the .45’s Stopping Power a Myth?

With all due respect to the author of this article, the effectiveness of a cartridge in a self-defense scenario is not a question of whether the aggressor “lived” or “died”; rather it is a question of whether they were “stopped”. There exists (on the internet) bank security camera footage...

Learn How to Draw a Pistol — Easy Steps Needed to Save Your Life

Good article; very straight-forward with no fluff. The photo depicting the woman checking her phone in what looks like a ghetto in Gaza has “victim” written all over her…….. may as well be carrying a sign. Don’t be that person. To begin with I do my best to avoid situations and places that...

    SureFire X300 Turbo Review

It is sort of amusing to see what has trended in “handgunnery” in the last two decades. Search out the lightest synthetic frame imaginable, then add a red dot sight, a flashlight and high-capacity magazine. What’s next, a transistor radio? Ha, ha, ha. Add enough accessories and weight and...

Does This Supplement (or Replace) Your Pistol?

A number of BAD reviews on the internet regarding this light. I have no personal experience with it however.

Does This Supplement (or Replace) Your Pistol?

To my way of thinking shining a light on someone is just giving them a beacon to shoot at. The flashlight has yet to be invented that could serve as a replacement for an adequate defensive sidearm. If you cannot be properly armed then the next best form of self-defense is a good pair of...

    Springfield Model 2020 Boundary Review

I prefer traditional sporting rifles for hunting and don’t quite understand the drift toward “tactical features” on a hunting rifle. This particular rifle seems to hold to the sporting tradition while incorporating some modern upgrades that would strengthen its durability afield. That’s a...

    9mm vs. 40 – Is the .40 Caliber a Better Handgun Cartridge?

Video circulating on the internet a while ago depicts a bank robber being shot in the neck (carotid artery?). Blood spurting everywhere in copious streams. Takes him 32-34 seconds to bleed out. An aggressor can do a lot of damage in that amount of time. So, I’m not so sure that blood loss...

Is Drawing Your Gun a Mistake?

Many informative articles appear on this blog, but their level of relevancy has much to do with whether the reader is military, law enforcement or simply a private citizen. In addition, while we can train and develop situational awareness, we cannot determine too far in advance the threat we...

A Gun for People Who Don’t Carry Guns?

There, you have it. A much more detailed and valued opinion than I could provide. Thanks for weighing in.
