To me it has been interesting to see what people aren't buying up. Around here I still see .300, .270, .243, .450 bushmaster, 22 short, 22 LR and 12 gauge shells on store shelves. Almost everything else that's normally stocked is gone.
Are you in Cook County?
I live in IL and I can get ammo shipped to me. I don't live in Cook County though. I've used Target Sports and Buds gun shop. They'll both want a one-time cell phone snap of your FOID card and then you're good to go.
Somewhere on the internet is a comprehensive...
I have always used Winchester FMJ 230 grain service grade 45 auto in it. I have never had an issue or malfunction. These days it's hard to find 45 auto in-stock. :(
I ran a variety of 45 auto through the SA mil-spec... also without a single issue or malfunction. :)
Here are my two. One is my grandfathers 1943 M 1911 A1. It's obviously got a fair amount of wear and the "idiot scratch" from its previous handling. And I doubt anyone on the internet ever scolded him for dropping the slide on it. It still shoots straight but I know it's really too valuable...
