I have Magtech 165gr .45 auto +P at 1148 fps solid copper HP. But I'm not sure if they are safe to use consistently in my 1911 A-1. I have a stainless steel barrel in an older gun. I fired a magazine and it seemed fine.

That explains a lot, BigBang. Thank you. My Saint has the 1794 date on the logo, and I just picked that up two months ago, hence the confusion.

Are you sure? Didn’t Springfield develop the M1 that was used in WWII?

Beautiful gun. I have an older 1911A1 that has what I believe is a misprint on the logo. It says 1974 instead of 1794
