    If this is you

I don't watch tv much anymore myself. But my favorite time of the year is coming(football season) so I'll football games(high school, college, pro) but with the mute button on...:) I've a lot more experience in Boxing/Martial Arts training than shooting firearms(mostly because I taught martial...

    student loan forgiveness shut down

I went to technical school in 1982(after getting out of the Marine Corps in 1979). I worked a night shift job to supplement my Veterans benefits to pay for tuition and supplies. I didn't have to take out a student loan. Up until I retired 2.5 years ago, I worked 2 jobs and taught martial arts...

Sheriff: "He wanted to go to heaven, we made the arrangements for him"

This story makes me want to revisit Mr. Clint Smith's(Thunder Ranch) quotes..:)

The more you read the crazier it gets

When I got out of the Marine Corps in 1979 I went to work in a warehouse in Houston. I tried to work hard and lay low. The warehouse foreman was a bully and he was always threatening people. He was a big guy and he seemed to try to use his size to intimidate people. One day he decided he'd pick...

Reality, you, and have you made your peace.

Yes sir. I can solder. I graduated from Texas State Technical College back in 1984 and soldering computer stuff was one of the classes...:) I haven't done any soldering in a few years but I think I'll be able to pick it back up pretty quickly. I enjoy different kinds of mechanical work...

    Another 100 degree day

I'm in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. It's been in the 100's here for a couple of weeks straight. They said we might get some rain next weekend. I moved back here in 2021 and the heat is not bothering me as much this year as it did back in 2021. I get all my outside chores done before 11 am...

Reality, you, and have you made your peace.

Well said sir. As I get very close to being 65 years young I think about all I survived to get here(Micro fracture neck surgery, quadruple bypass surgery, nasty divorce, etc, etc.). I wouldn't trade any of those experiences because it's allowed me to be here now. Hopefully a little wiser, more...

Concealed Carry in a Fanny Pack — Good CCW Idea or Not?

I still have a smart carry holster. I sometimes carry my S&W 638 Bodyguard in it that helps bodyguard my "junk"...:)

Info on 1990s era Springfield P9 .45 target gun?

I owned a regular P9 for a few years. It was accurate and just a great firearm. I think I traded it for a nice 1911 because the 1911 owner wanted a P9 so bad....:) But it's been over 20 years, maybe longer. I'd heard they made a target version of the P9 and it looks like you got a good one...

    Cz sp01

I owned a CZ P07(Duty) and liked it a lot. The only reason I got rid of it was that as I got older the narrow slide was harder for me to rack. It's a great shooting firearm that's pretty easy to conceal(P07).

new mortgage rules may 1st it will boil your blood

I just got pre-approved for a VA loan on Tuesday. I'm renting a house right now. I've been out of the Marine Corps since 1979 and this is the first time I'm using my VA home loan benefit. I'm hoping to move into a smaller house(1 or 2 bedrooms) instead of the 3 bedroom I currently live in.

Concealed Carry in a Fanny Pack — Good CCW Idea or Not?

I disagree. I wear a fanny pack across my chest(I have 2 different ones but only wear 1 at a time..:)). My Carhartt fanny pack worn across my chest gives me easy access to my firearm(Glock G19 or S&W 638 Bodyguard). They doesn't draw much attention down near the border because lots of people...

Concealed Carry in a Fanny Pack — Good CCW Idea or Not?

I'm a fellow lefty. When I buy firearm accessories I look to see if it will for my left handedness. When I carried 1911s I learned to adapt to the safety lever on the left side. As far as fanny packs most of the ones I use, have dual zippers so they can be opened with either hand. Quality of...

Reality, you, and have you made your peace.

I worked in an Emergency Room for a few years(as an Advanced EMT, Spanish Interpreter, Unit Secretary) and have seen people die. I held my ex-mother-in-law's hand and prayed for her until she took her last breath. A couple of years later I did that with her son(ex-brother-in-law). I've seen...

Show all your “other” guns and discussions.

Nice setup..:) I recently acquired a Ruger AR556 Magpul furniture version. I'm thinking about adding a front fore end grip for it. I ordered a Magpul RLS sling for it that should arrive by Saturday. I'm going to try using the Hasty Sling setup we were taught when I was a Marine back in the late...

Prepared or Paranoid? The Vigilant Mindset

Many years ago when I moved to Arkansas to teach at a karate school(I live in Texas now) I went to my new bank to do some banking. The tellers had seen me in their in Karate pants and heard I was the new Karate instructor of the Martial Arts school not too far from the bank. A young guy walks...

New Yorkers Must Pass A Mental Health Exam Before Purchasing A Gun!

I used to enjoy Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind" song. Now I feel bad for the poor souls who have to live there. Maybe it's time for Billy Joel's "Moving Out" song....:)

    “Displaying” a firearm

I agree sir. I worked as an armed security officer for many years in the Dallas area(part time and full time). I also had a Bodyguard License(level 4 security) for several years. It never bothered me that much when people called me "Barney Fife" or made other smart ass comments. I've been...

Concealed Carry in a Fanny Pack — Good CCW Idea or Not?

I'm a fan of fanny packs but I wear mine around my chest. I go riding in my electric bicycle often and I have a couple of different fanny type packs that I use. One is a smaller Carhartt brand that my Glock 19 and Leatherman's tool can fit in. I can also carry a S&W 638 Bodyguard. I have bigger...
