If I could have any military rifle in my collection the M14 would be the one I'd choose.

One of the range officers at my range carried an M14 along with a 1911 when he was in Iraq. He's the nicest guy in the world but I have a sinking suspicion he was/is one bad dude if need be. Retired from the Army as a CSM.
