Visible wire or not, that is not the problem...though it may be another problem. Batteries are not the problem. Circuitry is the problem. My latest (third!) seems to be working beyond the 30-31 day typical lifespan of the bad units. The circuitry in the bad units kill the battery!

Just exactly what I’m doing too. A few days short of a month now and it is still working, sitting on my dresser. In a week or two, if it is still working, I’ll mount it again. But, I am liking the irons a whole lot!

I’m on my third one now. Battery in and it sits on my dresser for another 30+ days to see battery lasts longer than 30 days. I bought the wasp specifically for the always on feature. I suspect shake to wake would fail before the always on units, all things being equal.

I agree that it's getting a bit long in the tooth. But I don't believe that SA is just doing nothing. It will very likely take just a tad longer to correct, than even the most patient of us is willing to accept. I've sent back two. At this point, I can wait for them to get this issue corrected...

I wonder why so many think that the “battery issue” is the fault of the battery. Seems awfully obvious that the unit itself is killing the innocent batteries.

Yep, I want my money back! That’s what I’m going to tell SA when my next Wasp (third one!!) fails. Haven’t received it yet, but I already know what is going to happen.

That's what they told me too. But both of mine dimmed properly (three detectable intensity levels noticed). Yet, both died at almost 1 month exactly. First one had seen two batteries, lasting two months in total. Second one last 1 month and 1 day.
