    Going Armageddon with the M1A

The Springfield Armory M1A is indeed a classic rifle that doesn't need to make any excuses. In 7.62x51 it's a little harder on brass for reloaders but has been used consistently for decades at Camp Perry to make bullseyes at 1K yards. What else could you need?

Video: How Effective Is .50 BMG?

I have a Big Horn Armory Model 89 in 500 S&W that will dispatch anything on this continent. Much more "comfortable" to shoot than the same cartridge in a revolver. Yes sir, a 450 gr. SWC/gc at 1950 fps. is wonderful for putting meat on the table as well as protect you from the Grizzly who will...

AR-15 RIFLE SLINGS: SINGLE- OR TWO-POINT?

I learned "the hard way" that if you choose a single point sling, you'll need to wear a "nut cup!"

Beyond the Gun: The need for less lethal options

I'm sorry but, I'm having a hard time with the whole "less than lethal defense options" thing. It may be because I live in the Northern Rockies where the Grizzly population increase has caused increased human encounters. This has resulted in "animal rights advocates" whining about OC spray is a...

    Black Powder Shot Shells

Well, I'll tell ya. Shooting a full power Black Powder Shot Shell is an entirely different experience. Its a different sound to begin with, more of a BOOM than a bang. Then there is the fire and the smoke that engulfs everything in front of you. Shooting trap at night with those shells will...

    Black Powder Shot Shells

It was lots of fun to make your own Black Powder Shotgun Shell loads for Cowboy Action Shooting. Got the recipe from an old relative who called them "Quacker Smackers!" We used whatever plastic hulls we could scrounge, paper over powder wads, and fiber wads for spacing between powder and shot...

    H4895 vs IMR 4895 in a M1A

IMR 4895 was the old standard powder for 30-06 in the Garand. It was easy on the much more fragile op-rod. Worked great in the 1917 Eddystone as well.

    Handloads: .30-30 Winchester

A very versatile cartridge. Also useful is the less well known 32 Spl. You can reload 32 Spl with 30-30 brass and vis versa. And, when your 30-30 barrel is shot out, you can put a 7mm barrel on it and chamber it in 7-30 Waters which is a really fun cartridge.

What Is The Best Way To Clean Brass?

My advise (FWIW) is to stay simple and use a vibratory tumbler with crushed walnut media. Someone already mentioned Dillon's media additive. It works great and smells good too. Don't get all billed up in all the new sophisticated brass cleaning equipment. Remember you only want to clean the...

Reloading: Thoughts on finding the perfect load and volume production.

A very well written article. Great instruction for newbies, IF they'll take the time to read and use it. Great space saving reloading bench. Especially like the Texas A&M caps on the rack. "Long ago and far away!"

Head to Head: .308 Winchester vs. .30-06 Springfield

I liked my '06 so much I turned it into a 338-06. Now I can shoot 250 grain bullets without all the muzzle blast and recoil of a 338 Win. Mag.

Introducing "The Armory Life Presents" Volume 4, "Hunting" Digital Magazine

Really enjoyed the collection of articles. On the other hand, I do get a little tired of all the whining about 308 recoil.

How to Develop Accurate, High Performance Handloads

Lots of great information and tips for the novice and new comer to use to stay out of trouble. The incredibly amazing thing to accomplish is getting them to actually read and study this. In over 50 years of reloading I am bewildered by all the newbies that just want to crank out 500+ per hour...

    Remington’s old owners fire everyone

Not always true. Change the name of the company, change ownership, the contract between the previous parties is now null and void. The real problem is management created this mess and will now deal with pissed off employees and community families. If management had negotiated reasonable...
