    Full Knee Replacement Surgery

Too be honest, while it certainly wasn't fun, it was not as bad as I thought it would be. And now having been through it with my left knee, I sort of feel like an old hand about it and am not worried. The only thing I think may be a problem is when I'll be able to drive myself again, since this...

    Full Knee Replacement Surgery

I'm six months out since my total knee replacement surgery. I just had my six-month checkup last week. All is going well with my new knee. I get that click every once in a while, but there is no pain, and it does not change how I walk. I've scheduled my other knee for total knee replacement next...

    New shirt

I can't keep track of the times my Marine Corps and Army veterans stickers on my trucks have gotten me out of tickets over the years. The pull over stop usually turns into a nice conversation about duty stations with the officer that has pulled me over. And informing them of my license to carry...

Alone style …. but with the handgun of your choice?

I'm too crippled up to go wandering around either location. I'll just hang out by the hotel pool while y'all go on your nature hike.

Is a .22LR round plausible for self defense?

I grew up on a farm. Whenever we had to put a cow down for whatever reason, it was done with a .22. But this was done with a well-aimed and well-placed shot to the head at very close range. One time we mistakenly grabbed the box of hollow point .22. It did not kill the cow. The hollow point just...

I was looking at my Saint….and I need help

Floyd the Barber was actually single. I know this as I am a geek for that show. There was even an episode about it, as he lied to a potential bride that Andy was his son. I'll be watching the marathon running of the show tomorrow morning, as I do every Sat. morning.

Carrying Concealed: Are Old Fanny Packs The New Trend?

No one has ever given me the evil eye when I carry my VP9SK in my fanny pack. Or when I used to carry my XDs .45 in a fanny pack. I mostly now carry a J-frame in a sticky holster in my pocket. Most people have their pockets filled with phones, keys, wallets...no one bats an eye. Carry what you...

    New shirt

I was stationed on Fort Carson from 85-88. No such rule then, and I would not have followed it. Also forgot that I also hid a .25 auto in the barracks. The dogs were run through every once in a while, but they were drug dogs, and I didn't do drugs. We also cleaned our assingned and crew served...

    New shirt

I bought my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 mag. while in the Army. I hid it in the ceiling tiles in the barracks at Fort Carson. We also used to buy our own 5.56 at gun stores in town, so we could take it down range with us and have some full auto fun with our M16A1s, instead of shooting off blanks...

    When in bed.....

Within reach while in bed--none. Within one step after getting out of bed, 3 in my dresser drawer. And a few steps further away, another in my wife's dresser drawer for her use. I have a lot of bad dreams while I sleep, and I need a couple of seconds to become awake enough to know whether what I...

    Open carry is for fools!

I named my son Wyatt, after Wyatt Earp. I never thought my ex-wife would go for that name, but she liked it. So, my first born was named Wyatt. This picture is over 25 years ago. A trip to Tombstone.

What are you doing right now??

That's the way I understood your post, as a good-natured ribbing, just saying that Old_Me sure works a lot with all his chores. He interpreted your post in the wrong way. I knew what you were saying.

When it comes down to it, what is your "go to" EDC?

My XDs .45 was my EDC for around 10 years. I now carry a HK VP9 SK or my S&W J-frame .357. But I still have my XDs as a drawer gun. Love it.

    Dine & Dash Stories

I was guilty of a few dine and dash episodes as a high school teenager. That stopped once I turned 18, as back then, where I grew up, 18 was the legal age for everything. That meant an adult sentence if caught. And by then I was more interested in being a legal bar patron than a juvenile in a...
