    Belt Recommendations

If you aren't solidly set on Nylon, check out A & G Custom Gunleather. I own several of Al's belts and have bought them for family members who carry. Hi quality at a reasonable pricing. If you aren't happy with your purchase, Al isn't happy either and he'll fix you up.

    New Eyes and Sight Alignment

I just had mine done last June. I had to practice a LOT to get past it. You might want to consider checking out a few different sight styles to see if any work better post surgery. As a pretty much life long 3 dot sight guy, I find myself gravitating to the style of sights that are on the...

What do you guys think of this CCW lesson?

To the first question, yes I have. I carried a 1911 and a Browning Hi-Power extensively when I worked plainclothes. To the second, ABSOLUTELY!! I am also firmly, set in stone in the camp of train train train with your equipment. Whenever I changed equipment whether firearm, holster type, carry...

What do you guys think of this CCW lesson?

In my personal opinion, there is only condition 1. Condition 4 : Would never use this method ... EVER. Condition 3 : If you don't trust the firearm you are carrying, you either need more training and/or a different firearm. Condition 2 : Just... no. Condition 1 : My preferred method. Carry in...

    Do you still trust SIG?

I currently own 4 Sigs. A 1911 Nightmare Carry, A P938 Nightmare Carry, an P365xl and a P239. Great guns all. Having said that, I would NOT purchase a P320 or any of it's variants.

Top 6 Ported EDC Pistol Myths (and Why They’re Wrong)

I carried a Springfield V10 in plainclothes for years, and you absolutely needed to be conscious of those ports. If you held a sheet of paper 6 to 8 inches above the ports and fired, it would tear the sheet apart. Now imagine that up against your body...

    Just learned about SCCY arms

It doesn't seem to me (unless I'm reading the article incorrectly) that they have gone out of business. Article says they have: "implemented a strategic downsizing to manage the current economic situation." So it looks like they may still be in operation. No biggie to me since I'd never own...

    Holster for 1911 TRP

If you want something a little more exotic, I can whole heartedly recommend my friend Chuck at CB Leatherworks or if you prefer his FB page: CB Leatherworks on FB I have several of his holsters, and he does incredible work. One at a time and completely made by hand. He did one for me in Mako...

Lost Secret of Pistol Shooting: The Crush Grip

I never called it the "crush grip" but the way I teach people to grip is to squeeze the grip until the gun starts shaking, and then back off just until it stops. If you can't see the pattern of the grip in your hand when you are done shooting, you aren't holding it hard enough.

Massad Ayoob on 3am knock on the door

We live out in the sticks, so I have things set up purposefully to ensure we're aware when folks are around. If they come up my driveway, they'll hit a sensor that alerts me before they even get close to the house. We also have cameras all over the outside of the house that alert us when...
