Saw a video where a guy slid a coat hanger through top of door, hooked "pull cord" and released opener. Suggest removing handle from cord so it is just a straight line. Nothing to hook to and get it to disengage.

Pretty simple, want to lock the overhead door, walk over and slide the bolt into the track. Want the light on or off, walk over and flip the switch. If you are that concerned about your "soldering station" it is probably best that you do not have one.
