    9mm vs. 40 — Is the .40 Caliber a Better Handgun Cartridge?

Phil Shoemaker took out a bear a few years ago with his 3rd Gen S&W 9mm. But Phil is the exception to the rule …. A very accomplished and experienced bear hunter to begin wih, and even in the after incident interviews he admitted that a 9mm for bear defense was marginal at best and there are...

    Is .40 S&W really dying?

All this talk about terminal performance is really just ballistic masturbation. Things get interesting when you get to the 12 guage size, and then I tend to check back in on the comments of the peanut gallery.

    Is .40 S&W really dying?

Dead? Hardley. Obsolete? Not a chance. Less popular, yes, but the 40 for all it’s positive attributes only suffers from one drawback….many think it is a solution in search of a problem. I’m not giving up my 9mms or 45s. I’ve embraced the 40 round. It’s like the 41 Magnum of the...

Old Versus New Cartridges: Which Rifle Rounds Are Better?

I think that in the last 20 years or so it was the development of newer bullet designs that led to developing new cartridges. Hornady seems to be the industry leader - developing bullet designs and then cartridges around that bullet. Think Amax, then ELD-X , etc. First came the Creedmoor...

The .25 Creedmoor: A Huge Niche

Its also nice to see bullets finally being improved. More choices are always welcome. If I were just getting into the “game” I’d look hard at this one. My existing 25-06 does all I could ever ask of a quarter bore and then some.

Yep. I have some no-name aftermarket 9mm barrel for my G22.3. Best of both worlds.

Ayoob: Is .45 Still Better Than 9mm?

Some gal with the last name of Force recently clocked 343mph in a top fuel V8 too …. I like cubic inches.

Ayoob: Is .45 Still Better Than 9mm?

The saying, “there is no substitute for cubic inches,” comes to mind. Pass me the 45, please.

    G23 (post 72 hours)

Not a Gen 5 (or a light) guy as I believe perfection was achieved at the Gen 3, but the 23 is about as good a CCW package as can be had. You did really good. I’m on the lookout for some deals on Glocks now that they have streamlined their product line.

Suspect in custody after stabbing of 11 people at Michigan Walmart

Something like this is why I always give dirty looks when someone says "how paranoid do you have to be to carry a firearm with you just to go to the grocery store?" The "Tops" shooting in Buffalo is one example. This looks to be another one. My guess - and just FWIW - mental issues, and...

    I Love REVOLVERS

I wish I could find a M 12! I’ve seen a few 15s over the years and missed a really nice one before the China-flu pandemic hit. I was at a gun show and decided - like a fool - to walk the rest of the show first before making any offer and haggling to purchase that 15. Someone else snagged it...

Why the 1911 Remains a Top Choice for Gun Owners

Meh. If a 1911 is analogous to a lawnmower then my polymer pistols are analogous to a shovel. Different purposes and different handling regimens.
