    An indulgence from my childhood

Little kid I remember visiting my folks friends that owned a motel. Had one of the Coke machines where you slid the bottle out sideways. Good memories!

Larry Vickers, Operation Acid Gambit Interview

I enjoyed the interview and was happy to see that LAV flat-out stated he was wrong in what he did for the violations he was charged with. I hope that he gets his rights restored and a pardon.

    KNIVES- What would you carry?

I'd go with my Shrade Sharp Finger -a very trusted companion. I feel like I'm missing out not having a lightweight hatchet but have never used anything except the traditional camp hatchets.

    Mexican Navy attacks NYC...

We don't even have to do that! Revoke the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, reclaim all of the formerly Mexican lands that were captured by General Winfield Scott, build the border straight West from Veracruz and call it the Winfield Scott Welcome Zone. We would have all of the seashore in the Gulf...

    Emoticon Meanings

I believe it was SigForum that had an emoticon that would run three or four inches across the page and take a leak. They also had a beating horses one. Haven't seen them in a while. edit: found a classic

Carrying Concealed: Are Old Fanny Packs The New Trend?

I have one of the black leather ones from when they were popular in the 80's and a newer Eberlestock which is very nicely made. Only used now for hiking as in the cities people are known for clubbing you from the behind and departing with your bag. Less of that element found on the trails.

    karen read trial

The first trial was a debacle with one of the lead investigators being discredited and losing his job. This 'glitch' in the evidence process is, to say the least "alarming." I've developed somewhat of a jaundiced eye regarding agency evidence process in my 27 years in the system, to say nothing...

Review: Stan Chen Customized 1911 EMP

I would carry any gun that was reliable and accurate regardless of its cost. To me, there is no gun too expensive to keep my extraordinarily important hide intact and operational. Life is too short for ugly women, cheap whiskey or "budget" guns.🤠

masculinity check? who's up for it

I had one of the Iver Johnson .50 cal's that you slid a shell onto a removable bolt/extractor in the mid-90's. Shot exactly 1 (one) out of it and sold it for a nice sum. The Iver Johnson branded guns didn't have the same tech as Barrett's as far as reducing recoil. The muzzle device appeared to...

Extendable Baton Defense for Extreme Versatility

I was an ASP instructor and found them mediocre as compared with a straight Koga baton -my preference was for the 'pool cue jab' rather than a limb strike. The old Winchester/Magnum expandable batons were very effective for striking but very heavy. I found that the Streamlight SL-20 flashlight...

    Interesting Conversation I Had....Your Thoughts?

Many people buy 'home defense' firearms as more of a talisman than a tool. I would suggest that the behaviors listed so far that many of us see as appalling or negligent regarding maintenance, training and knowledge of legal use of firearms would be a majority rather than a minority. I often...

    Dine & Dash Stories

Walking home from junior high, past a drugstore that sold 3.2 beer back in the 70's and the Coors guy had cases stacked unattended by the back of the truck :p . That six-pack and a Matchbox car I lifted when I was about 6 were the two things I ever stole (besides hearts!)

    what a marooony

Carville should walk into the sunset hand in hand with Karl Rove. While both are more intelligent and relevant than the human hickey on a hemorrhoid known as Michael Moore, they are way past their expiration date and need to be discarded.

Sounds like the wife did this intentionally

Parole was my post retirement career. Retired from that a year earlier than planned. 27 dirty u/a and you don't get revoked? Possession of fenty & firearm and you don't get revoked? Will You Lose Your Shooting Skills?

Yes definitely two different aspects. Considering that at time he was 3 years recovered from having a heart attack & a stroke it was impressive as hell. He was a great man, flew rescue birds in Vietnam and in Greenland and after retiring from the Air Force, flew lead planes for the Forest...

Will You Lose Your Shooting Skills?

My Father In-Law's only pistol was a BHP he'd picked up at the BX during his Air Force career. For whatever reason he didn't care for shooting it and asked me to find a quality revolver. I found a sweet little S&W M-15 that we took out on the range at the store we bought it from. He was in his...

    9mm vs. 40 — Is the .40 Caliber a Better Handgun Cartridge?

I carried a .45 LW Commander before my first retirement and was issued a G23 in .40 for the job I retired from two years ago. When I was shooting lots of Steel Challenge the .40 G22 was my favorite as it combined higher capacity with decisive hits on falling steel. I gave my Browning Hi Power...

US Army Issues Intent to Sole Source Procurement of M4/M4A1 Carbines from Colt

Well, I like Swiss chocolate and respect the Belgians for their "little grey cells" (Kudos if you know the grey cell reference without searching;) )
