My basic requirements for my 1911s...

Forged parts are good. I own several 1911's with external extractors and firing pin safeties, they do not offend me. I have replaced and/or tuned extractors on my Colt 1911's, it seems the external extractors are just easier to work on. I am a traditionalist to a point, but some modern...

USAF Sig M18 court case reports released

I was an OSI agent active and reserve from the Vietnam era to retirement in 2011. Almost every year there was one or more negligent discharges by a Security Forces troop somewhere that my agency investigated. So many young folks handling guns in remote places, I think boredom and youthful...

The Forgotten M60E1: An Early Attempt to Improve the M60 Machine Gun

I have a soft spot for the Pig. Fired one a lot in traning and in a 1971 instructor course. And sat behind one for many hours in bunkers and armored vehicles in SEA. The biggest pain for me was barrel overheating and barrel changes. The asbestos glove and spare barrel was essential kit.

But if you do need to use it in combat, you need it very badly, and it needs to work with speed, power, and accuracy. If...
