That is true for .223 vs 5.56 NATO. 5.56 NATO is higher pressure than .223, whereas .308 is higher pressure than 7.62 NATO.

D’oh! I knew that but totally brainfarted! Ugh and the week hasn’t even started yet! 🤣

I thought .308 and 7.62 were okay to shoot out of modern barrels stamped 7.62 or .308, but 7.62 out of an older .308 stamped barrel was a no-no due to the higher pressure.
