Springfield Armory 1911DS Prodigy FF issues

You’ll be good. I saw the repair order you posted up before taking it down (no doubt due to personal info on there, good call..) Mine got the same treatment plus a sear spring. Once I got north of 500 rounds, it really smoothed out the action. Action may feel a little gritty until the Cerakote...

I'm a man of my word

I’d agree KillerFord. My x5 has the Sig Armorer’s kit in it…it is the absolute best striker fired pistol I own or have ever shot. Between it and my Prodigy, 10K rounds easily. It just works…little to no maintenance either. Still love the 2011 platform

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

I really, really like the look of this, but… a lot of his Prodigy stuff sells…to the point of it’s out of stock, often. Good problem to have I guess…:)

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

I sent my magazines in with the pistol when I RMA’s mine. They checked them all.. and other than a couple of weeks ago…they were flawless. I took each apart, cleaned them, and all is well again. If you think the mags are a problem, send them in with it is my advice.

Agreed. And I think the EGW takes a paper clip/staple.. which, is not tool less IMO :). Better than a 2 piece, yes.

I’m no lawyer…and others may know more. But I **Think** as Long as the RMA label is from a licensed FFL you’re good. My answer would be warranty return for a firearm. If they give you hassle, go to the dealer. The FedEx I used didn’t even question.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

I found a FedEx that accepts dangerous goods…they don’t all take firearms, at least not in Metro Detroit. Boxed it, handed it to them…shipped off with the RMA label. @SimonRL, I have a 4.25 Prodigy. I have that same dawson in my Staccato, I don’t see the same for the 4.25 Prodigy. I just got...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Yep, just ordered up an Atlas one piece. I don’t like the idea of a paperclip or staple, it looks like the Atlas (Possibly the Dawson too…) doesn’t need anything and it’s made very similar to the Dawson in my Staccato. The prodigy 2 piece didn’t really bother me too much…until I had the Stac P...

I went another way. I used the Prodigy as my inexpensive gateway drug into 2011s. I expected minor issues…and I’m very pleased with My prodigy now. But… I had to know what Staccato was like, and…now I’m hooked. Looking to replace my EDC P320X compact with a C2 or CS…. I really like the platform.

Mgar, as someone who went through the SA warranty process… call them. I sent an email that to this day, never got answered. I called them Monday morning and had an RMA label within 10 minutes.

I'm a man of my word

Nice pickup, I really enjoy mine. It’s taken a bit of a backseat now that I have a Staccato P, but I come back to it freequently. With about 1K through my P, and over 5K easily through my Prodigy, the slide is smoother AND with the EGW internals the trigger is actually nicer/cleaner break on...

    Finally got to shoot today

OK…glad I’m not the only one…lol. Normally, when a price too good to be true…is just that. These companies that charge $75 to $100 S&H for 500 to 1000 rounds is highway robbery…but hey, let ‘em try.

    Finally got to shoot today

.16 a round? I use ammoseek as well, the only rounds I‘ve found that cheap are usually 1 or 2 box limit, often steel and they more than make up for that on absurd S&H. Best price I’ve found that is good, clean reliable ammo is from ammunition planet, 124gr reloads. With shipping 1K of ammo is...

New Double Stack 1911 Offering From Kimber

Never been a Kimber fan…however, more competition in the market drives innovation and price point. Good for all of us.

    S&W Competitor

Didn’t know they made a 45 that looked like the competitor… it is aluminum frame? Stock mag is 17, 9mm.

    S&W Competitor

Had one. It was ok. Put the overwatch kit and sear in, made it better. Bought a Canik Rival S 2 weeks later, better fit, feel, shooting… sold the SW Competitor to a good friend and he LOVES it. Probably put about 300 to 400 rounds through it, can’t say anything bad…great shooter, reliable and...

    Covid--- its no joke

Glad you’re doing better and best wishes for your mother as well. I had it a couple years ago… and this is just my personal experience. I’ve had worse colds. I was a little tired, a little achy, my knees hurt a little walking up the stairs. No fever, no trouble breathing, no other long term or...

    A positive Prodigy thread.

My stories mimic others here. Yep, I knew the risk buying it…turned out I was right. Zero cost, less than 10 Days later…flawless over 5K rounds since. EGW ignition and 17# mainspring in mine after 2500ish rounds. It is no Staccato, I recently purchased one and really, really love it. but the...
