EDC without your primary shooting hand

Due to a flare up of arthritis in my right lately there are times I would have to shoot with my left. At SD ranges I shouldn’t have a problem. I thought that I should at least get one left handed holster.

How Cold Weather Makes CCW Harder (Not Easier)

Yes, that’s the nice thing about winter is being able to carry a j-frame in the coat pocket. I carry mostly IWB appendix so all of my coats have snaps instead of zippers keeping the bottom unsnapped.

Carrying while fat (how do you do this comfortably?!)

One thing I have found very helpful with IWB holsters is covering the inside of the holster next to your body with a sticky type material so I don’t have to cinch my belt so tight. Suspenders are great also.

Carrying while fat (how do you do this comfortably?!)

The thing I did was make good choices that I could live with and stick with them. I stayed away from weekly weigh ins and just stayed at it. This last year I lost 20#, close to 25# the year before so I wasn’t in a hurry, just as long as my weight kept going down regardless of how little.

Carrying while fat (how do you do this comfortably?!)

Cutting carbs, sugar, and processed foods over time, that and portion control. Then I kept off the scales 😉. Fats and proteins will keep you feeling full. What was a real shocker was after I eliminated hydrogenated anything on top of my restrictions, my cholesterol was back in a very good range...

3 Myths About Handgun Stopping Power

Your post brings to mind my experience many years ago when CCW became legal. I was relieved to know I had a legal option to defend myself with a firearm against someone with a firearm, no more living in fear. Many years later with reliable information about the process and how long the process...

3 Myths About Handgun Stopping Power

It’s a bit difficult to make good hits when your surprised, the target and you are both moving, the bad guy is shooting back at you, and you are having an adrenaline dump 😬. Something that can’t be duplicated on the range 😉.

3 Myths About Handgun Stopping Power

The way I look at it by the data I had seen good shot placement in a gun fight is something to strive for but doesn’t happen often other than the range. A consideration for me when choosing calibers and capacity. Secondly, stopping power to me just means stopping the attack on me.

    My EDC, Pepper Spray 😲

You may be disappointed if you use it on a tuff pit bull 😬. You will get a bad bite before the spray takes effect on most tuff dogs.

    My EDC, Pepper Spray 😲

Sometimes people walk off with a couple of rounds in them also 🤔, but the odds are in your favor. I got hit with blow back spraying old Fox Labs spray and that made me a believer. The real risk in my opinion is gas pressure loss from leaving it in a hot car, something I don’t do. As far as cold...

    My EDC, Pepper Spray 😲

One thing I do every four years is spend 150-200.00 on pepper spray from the small key chain size to the large canister size for home and sometimes cars when protesters ma be a foot. I believe in a less than lethal option available, especially when carrying a firearm. I think many confrontations...

    IWB Holster

I have been using Vedder Light Tuck for years now including my shield and the work great for any carry gun. They are thin yet strong and have good adjustments. The bels clip is secure and I have never had one come loose on the draw. It can be adjusted for both angle and depth. The holster also...

    Cane For Personal Protection

ASI have gotten older I have had many joint issues with my spine and hands, I have had to start using a cane a few years ago. The one I had was a drugstore aluminum can that is adjustable. I too have come to the conclusion a cane will be part of my life, especially when my sciatic starts kicking...

    How Loud Is A Gunshot?

One of my carry guns is a S&W Shield loaded with 147grn HST standard pressure. I use it for performance, but I thought being subsonic would be an added benefit if shooting without protection in a self defense situation. One day in a rare incident, I was outside in my front yard, two pit bulls...
