Sadly there is a lot of politics in the house of medicine. The effort to try to use public health laws to deal with violence is a bit obsured. Human emotion is not a communical disease.

Taking care of police officers, there are times the table next to my scale looks like a sales cabinet in a gun store. I once counted 5 there because I had 3 officers in exam rooms. Add my duty belt and back up for a well equipped office.
Most hospitals will post a no firearms sign. As a physician who used a CCW until I became a reserve police officer; I have had some consternation by my peers about weapon of choice. this “ guns are a public health issue“ rhetoric drives frustrated feelings in me!!!
