    Semmerling LM-4 Pistol 45 ACP

I've wanted one of those for a while. I doubt I'd be willing to pay the price if I found one, though.

    RIP Robert Duvall

I dreaded this day. He was one of my favorite living actors, and truthfully maybe the only one. He was good in everything, including (most impressively) some otherwise poor movies.

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

I’ve looked at it and thought the same thing, but maybe in a different way. The Johnson rifle is very MODULAR rifle. The magazine for example, can be swapped out easily. Pull two pins and you can take it off and replace it with a box magazine well. Change to the 7.61x51? Press a bullet...

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

Trust me, I’ve heard every Johnson joke. Told most of them myself.

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

I’ve never seen that figure. If correct, it must have come from the Johnson’s prototype costs. Production costs should’ve been less than the Garand. Melvin Johnson went around to various manufacturers to see what they could build, should it enter wartime production. A lot of it could’ve...

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

The feed lips, if that’s what they can be called here, are part of the receiver. The magazine pushed the rounds up against the bottom of the receiver, who opening is shaped more or less like feed lips. The Johnson Automatic Rifle was the same way. The side-feed magazine was single-stack...

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

The AR-10 bolt was indeed Johnson-based. ArmaLite hired Melvin Johnson in an advisory role when they were working in the AR-10. I do wonder if that was some sort of legal trick to get around using the design.

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

That pretty much sums it up. I bought an M1941 Johnson several years ago. I did some reading to educate myself quickly. By the time the Johnson rifle came along, the Garand rifle was solidly in place. John Garand had been employed by Springfield Armory for the purpose of designing a semi...

    Bad Bunny or TPUSA?

I watched the Puppy Bowl. Team Fluff won, but I think it was a questionable call.

    Is TWO guns Too much?

Carrying multiple guns is polarizing as hell, and I don’t get it. But here I go with my take. I carry at least two guns. Why? I can name several reasons but here’s three off the top of my head. Guns break and/or malfunction. It’s a lot quicker to draw another gun than to fix the...

    Favorite all time caliber

I was rethinking this thread and decided it would be easier to list calibers/cartridges I don’t like. I’d start a thread on that, but it’s bedtime.

    Calling all motorcycle enthusiasts.

No trouble with the splines so far. They were in good shape when I got it, and I keep them covered with the special grease on both BMWs. I haven’t ridden the brick in a while, though. I got bit by a common problem the bricks have: The dreaded grub screw. If you don’t know, on these, the...

    Calling all motorcycle enthusiasts.

K1600s are amazing. I’ve heard people say such and such engine is “electric motor smooth” and thought yeah, sure. Well, the K1600 is pretty close! I test rode one at a dealer’s demo day and couldn’t get over it. We rode as a group, and when we stopped at a stop sign, I started to pull away...

    Calling all motorcycle enthusiasts.

I started on a Rupp minibike in 1976, then the natural progression to a Kawasaki 80, etc, etc. Gave it up when I moved to the Chicago area for a few years in the late 80s. Started back into it in 2017, by buying what I wanted years before: a BMW K75. I added a BMW R1100RS a couple years...

Do You Carry While Doing Yard Work?

Most places do. Its just a question of how informed the residents are. "That kind of thing doesn't happen here" usually does in fact happen there.

Anybody remember the Jerry Ahern "Survivalist" series

I thought they were so damned silly I only made it through the first dozen. Granted, I might've been as old as HS age then. I should read one now and see if I stop at one or keep going. I do recall they get farther and farther out there as it went on.
