HELP Newby Cleaning Lubing 45 mil-spec for 1st time

I use Wilson Combat Grease for carry guns, as the oil transfers to clothing easier on an inside the waistband holster, about the only way I can hide a 1911. Obviously, oily clothes are to be avoided. I have used it for decades. I like the syringe applicator. I also see that MidwayUSA no longer...

    HS-Custom Garrison 4.25″ 9mm

If a guy could only have one pistol...this might be it except for the caliber. Along with a 22 Rimfire Marvel Conversion Kit. I am on a minimalist kick lately fueled by a friend of mines son. But a Garrison in .45 acp might well indeed be that one answer.

    Truck reflashing

The way I see it, it is just a computer thing. If the truck runs great now, NEVER mess with it. If it starts acting up and you can't find a cause...well at that point take it in for a re-flash.

    Building a Backwoods Carry Kit

I admit I am a gear Junkie. I took great pains as a child building a survival kit that would fit into a Prince Albert Tobacco Tin. And yet, my father and I never had to spend an unplanned night in the woods. But in my mind I was always ready! As an older, perhaps more realistic guy now (but...

    NRA magazines to stop printing

I know this is the future. But I hate it. I have a book or magazine on my lap when I am watching TV. That is comfortable for me, watching and reading during commercials or the slow parts of the movie. If I have a screen in front of me, I am focused on that, posting messages, looking up photos...

    crazy prices on used guns

350 Rem mag is great black bear or wild hog medicine. In a light and quick handling carbine, exactly what was needed. Too bad folks didn't see it back then. For North America, a .308, a .223 and a 350 Remington Magnum covers all the bases. And with the bonus of all the rifles on the same...

    crazy prices on used guns

Good job on the 600s! The prototype Scout Rifle. And you had the foresight to get the two most desirable calibers. Well played my 442 driving friend!

Time for a discussion on performance enhancers

I hear about a sad case like this and ask myself "What if you had died at 30?". Good Lord. I knew nothing by then. Now that I am twice 30, I am so grateful that I was granted the opportunity to learn so much....

What have you bought firearms related in the last 48 hours?

Ozarker, I know you meant the real Cobra, but I will post a picture of my toy car anyway because every thread is better with more pictures. And the side pipes kinda zipppppp.

SA Emissary AOS 4.25 vs SA TRP CC AOS - Range Trip! 17 Dec 25

Good shooting, as usual! Have to admit, I don't care for a rail on a 1911 because I am too old to change from the Harries Technique and I don't like the look. But I can't help but wonder if that extra steel/alloy makes the frame more rigid and increases accuracy. Someone with a Ransom Rest...

Dumbazz shoots porch pirates in Georgia

I have to admit as mad as a thief makes me there is nothing I own that is worth me taking someone's life over, however wasted that life had been up to the point of robbing me. Having said that, myself and my wife are not property and I would defend them to my dying breath. Which will be with an...

    Battle of the Defensive Shotguns

I have to say, knowing full well it will keep me from being one of the cool kids, but I hate a pistol grip on a shotgun. I lose the fast handling that the shotgun is known for. A well used Winchester Model 12 is my bedside iron, but my downstairs home defense gun is an equally well used...

What are you doing right now??

Got a haircut since I am going to visit my folks this weekend. My old man would not let me hear the end of it if I showed up at their house "Looking like a Hippie". Because if your hair is not high and tight, you are by definition a Hippie.

    The Last 1911

I will have to update my photo of my "Keeper" 1911s. Formerly it was the Less Baer and a Springfield with a Loaded stainless steel lower and a Mil Spec upper. (because of the Loaded models forward cocking serrations) Going forward, it will be the Baer and the new Colt.

Should Your CCW Be Big, Small, or Neither?

And carry an extra magazine if you carry a semi automatic. Generally, a reload is the fastest way to clear a stoppage. Drop the mag, work the slide vigorously and reload. If the stoppage is not cleared by that, you probably won't have time to clear it at all.

Should Your CCW Be Big, Small, or Neither?

Well, for sure carry something! At the very least I have a J frame S&W or a vintage Colt Cobra in my pocket. I carried a full size 1911 for decades and shoot it better than anything. But now that I am retired, I don't carry the big iron anymore all day. So when I go to town, it is not a burden...

    J Frame? Well....

Of course, if you need the short barrel of the two inch J Frame and can afford just a wee bit more bulk, an old style Colt is your answer. Wide sights on the pre-1973 models in Detective Special (all steel) Cobra (alloy frame) and Agent (alloy frame, shorter grip) The best pocket carry revolvers...
