EDC Options (part 1 of 2)

The legalities of personal protection is something I need to familiarize myself with if I’m going to carry. I’ll do some research or find some nearby classes to attend. I’ll make myself smarter. The human response to a loud noise is also something to understand. I’m sort of in my infancy with...

I can wrap my head around that.

EDC Options (part 1 of 2)

I certainly hope that in the event of an emergency situation I would be able to neutralize the threat. And if the report of the gun distracts the assailant, all the better. I’m definitely training to be the best protector I can be. Regards.

I’ve seen that movie but my recollection just isn’t there. Geez I’m getting old.

To me comfort is an important consideration. If it’s uncomfortable you won’t carry it and then find yourself exposed. That said, training and practice are equally important. What good is a pistol you can’t shoot? Thank you for your perspective.

I appreciate all the thoughts and opinions here. My daughter in law’s father carries a revolver. And a friend of mine has a S&W. Right now I’m on the capacity gravy train. There’s a part of me that thinks the louder the gun the more intimidating it might be to a would be attacker. I know if...

I’ll look at the XD too. Best.

EDC Options (part 1 of 2)

Ha! I’m glad I didn’t run out and buy one. I once told someone my competition gun was the Beretta Bobcat. Do they have bobcats in Italy? Apparently my sense of humor needs polishing because the comment wasn’t well received. Thanks again for contributing. I learn a lot from other people’s...

EDC Options (part 1 of 2)

Thanks all for lending your thoughts. When I was younger I shot a few pistols, rifles (for hunting) and shotguns. I’ve been shooting every week for a year (except for periods in the summer when I was backed up with work around the house). I fully intend on practicing with my EDC and...

I’ve taken to holding back on a full magazine as well. As it was pointed out above, you’ll run out of time before you run out of ammo. It makes me feel more protected to carry an extra mag on me, or near me in the pickup. I hadn’t considered the Reflex. I’ll check it out. Thank you.

I promise, no sissy played pistols. I’ve seen a fair number of movies but don’t recall the scene above. Best.

The Echelon seems to have received quite favorable reviews. I’ll rent this as well. I appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you. I will definitely visit the rental desk at the range and try as many of my selections that they have available.

I’ve never heard of Llama. I’ll have to do some research. Thank you.

EDC Options (part 1 of 2)

Reliability is a very important factor in my decision process. Reliability is key. I don’t want to purchase a gun that is of questionable quality/performance and find out it failed me when I needed it most.

EDC Options (part 1 of 2)

I like 1911 platform as well. We live a bit north of Pittsburgh PA and the winters require layering up so a larger carry gun might not be an issue. I definitely understand the benefit of carrying with a round in the chamber and I intend to do so once I’ve trained for a while. Best regards...

EDC Options (part 1 of 2)

I have not fired any of those guns I’m considering. The range I go to has a decent selection of rentals. In the near future I intend to try those the range has available. Thank you for contributing.

EDC Options (part 1 of 2)

I’m 58 and my eyes aren’t as sharp as they were a few years ago. And over the same time period my knees have started bugging me so evading danger could prove difficult for me. Also, I watch my grandkids fairly often and when we are out and about I feel much more confident that I can protect...

EDC Options (part 1 of 2)

I’m 6’3” 235 lbs so I’ve got the surface area for a carry gun with a little size to it. In my original post I’m not sure if I mentioned it (but it’s probably obvious) that I’m fairly new to concealed carry. Over time I hope to settle on the best carry option for me and train with the gun...

Thank you. That Staccato is a very nice gun. I can’t believe I got that one approved by my better half. Even though that pistol is not that big or heavy I need to work up to carrying it. I need to get use to the extra bulk.
