A Look Back at the Classic Colt Diamondback Revolver

I love the Colt "D" Frame revolvers. I think the 2" Detective Special is the best snubby .38 ever made. The "D" frame is larger than S&W "J", but smaller than their "K". Small enough to easily conceal, yet big enough to fill the hand and shoot very well. It holds six shots too. ;) I have...

    The Super .38

I came close to ordering one of those. But I wanted a lightweight Commander. I already have a Combat Commander in 38 Super.

he needs a "go fund me page"...???

I wish him a full and speedy recovery. But it won't be on my dime.

The Role of the Pocket Pistol

I've worn jeans my entire life. The only thing I've ever been able to comfortably pocket carry is a tiny .25 auto. I find that even a small J-frame is uncomfortable and difficult to draw. Maybe in cooler weather for a quick trip to the store, I might put a small gun in my coat pocket, but...

Can you get past an actors politics

Singers, actors, athletes, etc are famous because they are very good at what they do. Famous because of that one thing they're good at. But when you look at the rest of their life outside of that one thing, you quickly find that about 90% of them are complete idiots. Never take advice from an...

    The Super .38

I'm not surprised. But I think it speaks poorly of the current generation.

    The Super .38

No problem. We're just talking here. You do make a valid point. As I mentioned earlier, the Ruger I'm currently working on came with a ramped barrel. I believe this has become a common solution to 9mm feeding issues. Again, my opinionated old self, a 9mm 1911 is for wussies who can't handle a...

    The Super .38

I did not. But for a long time the 9mm in a 1911 proved to be somewhat troublesome due to the shorter cartridge length. I think most of those issues have been solved by now. So it doesn't matter. The 38 Super is the same length as the .45acp. It fits perfectly in a 1911 and has been chambered...

    The Super .38

The 38 Auto and 38 Super are identical in size. The 38 Super was developed by simply adding more powder to the 38 Auto. However, the pressure difference is dramatic. While its completely safe to shoot 38 Auto in a 38 Super, its dangerous to try to shoot 38 Super in a 38 Auto. Don't do it. For...

    Advisor Carbine

I'm a big fan of the M1 carbine. In an urban situation, I'd much rather have it than a AR. ;)

    The Super .38

Although kinda rare, the 1928 Thompson sub-machine gun was also chambered in 38 Super. ;)

    The Super .38

I'm a big fan of the Colt Super 38 Automatic cartridge aka 38 Super. I currently own seven of them and am currently working with one that will be my new EDC. 😁 Its a great cartridge. In its original form it fires a 130gr bullet at 1300-1350 fps. Unfortunately most current ammo makers have...

Marijuana use and 2nd Amendment case before Supreme Court

Marijuana should be the same as alcohol. Ok for private consumption in a safe environment, but illegal for driving or CCW. It should NOT be grounds to refuse 2A rights.

For you 1911 guys how many mags do you carry?

For a 1911 I generally carry two spare mags. Since they're flat and fairly slim, I find that carrying two is no more difficult than just one.

    How long for service

SA has some of the best customer service in the industry. But it also depends on what you need. I sent a 1911 in for repair and got it back in 8 days. I also sent a M1A in for the national match upgrade. As I recall, that took a couple of months. For your problem, I'd think one to two weeks. ;)

How is your 1911 set up?

I don't change a lot. Just give me some decent sights. Most guns come with those these days. I'm not real particular about safeties or beavertails. Whatever came on the gun is fine with me. I like a long trigger. Again pretty common on most. Non-aggressive grips. I don't work well with sharp...

A Golden Boy Rimfire Revolver is the Perfect Mate for Your Henry Rifle

These actually came out a couple of years ago. There's also a Big Boy in .357. I've seen exactly one at a gun show a while back. Seems like a decent enough gun, but it just didn't trip my trigger. I much prefer adjustable sights on a .22. I also think its way over priced. Frankly, its kinda...

    NIB 1974 2nd Gen Colt SAA .45.

That's actually a decent price on that gun as an investment never to be shot. Personally, I don't believe in safe queens. I shoot everything I own. I'd pass.

Yep, I like 'em! 😁 The Scout/Squad is my favorite. The perfect compromise between size and handling. (y)
