April 19, 1861, the first blood of the American Civil War is shed

Not to pick nits, but wasnt the first blood shed when the Union soldiers were killed at Ft Sumter (even if "accidentally" or as we say today "negligently")? A true pity that more secesh thugs werent killed in Maryland on April 19th 1861, IMO. The "When you mess with the bull you get the horns"...

Was the 1911’s Grip Safety a Mistake?

No, the grip safety wasn't a mistake. Leaving one off the BHP was a mistake. IMO, YMMV... The 1911 was originally designed as a cavalry weapon, and the GS and half-cock notch are both there to prevent accidental discharges if dropped. The trigger safety on the Glock is a joke, there is no way...

He's hardly an "idiot" and sharing his knowledge and experience is hardly bloviation. Speaking of which, look who's talking!

    Five Must-Dos of Home Defense

"Then the thought popped into my head that it would take just one molotov cocktail to absolutely ruin my day." This exact concern has bedeviled me for several years now... Not of course that I have anything anyone would want to risk their lives for, but people being what they are... an Old Fart...

Was the Atomic Bombing of Japan Necessary?

I quote from the Bible where the author of Isaiah says that GOD creates evil- and that makes me a determinist whose personal choices are meaningless- and a "LOON"? LOL! Personally I don't see how you pulled that from what I said and it certainly isnt what I believe... Did you actually...

Was the Atomic Bombing of Japan Necessary?

"As one to me are shame and fame, as one to me are praise or blame"... - Buddhist Pali Canon (rough rendition). Japanese Buddhism is moderated by Shinto, a kind of state religion- loyalty and duty to family, clan, emperor, and by "bushido", the unwritten military/samurai code of chivalrous...

Was the Atomic Bombing of Japan Necessary?

Isaiah 45:7 (KJV) "I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I the LORD do all these things". Right there, the Bible says that The Almighty does indeed "create evil". The text can be argued, but the fact is that NO- THING exists outside the Divine Will.

Tarani: The Failure That Could Save Your Life

It's been my experience that "things" kick into place when a "situation" arises. We respond according to our natures and our training... training can make the difference between dealing with the situation, OR conversely, "running around like a chicken with it's head cut off". Training can make...

Ayoob: The 1911’s Strengths (and Weaknesses)?

I may or may not be "lost", that's for The Almighty in His merciful Holy Wisdom to decide. Insofar as concerns firearms, I have more years and experience than the two of you put together. It's your loss that you are closed to learning from those older, wiser and with broader experience... :cool...

Ayoob: The 1911’s Strengths (and Weaknesses)?

I carried either a Combat Commander or a HiPower for decades. Now in my dotage errr... "golden years", it's a Glock 19 or G21. Weight, size, and general handiness are the factors influencing my decision..

No, I don't need it. Yes, I may buy it. Used Sig 320. Need your advice...

Personally I wouldnt touch a SIG 320- or pretty much any SIG these days. That's just me, I don't want any lousy guns from a company that doesnt back their product. Get a Ruger, Walther, Glock, or Smith. JMO, YMMV!
