What’s In Your Pocket? Keep Your EDC Realistic

I honestly think holster choice is more important than gun choice when considering concealed carry. Or at least more weight should be put into the holster versus the gun.

Show off your Every Day Carry!

I keep looking at a new S&W revolver for a pocket carry. I want something that will reliably function inside the pocket of a coat for those long winters we have. There is something comforting about being able to grab your pistol and have it at the ready without making everyone around you aware...

What’s In Your Pocket? Keep Your EDC Realistic

Big 1791 fan myself. I carried their fair chase holster for a few years and would consider 1791 near the peak of leather craftsmanship. Leather is just comfortable and classic for a reason. Leather against the skin all day no problem. Kydex against the skin, problems galore.

What’s In Your Pocket? Keep Your EDC Realistic

Adding a small fanny pack to my EDC was a game changer. I keep my wallet, medicine, flashlight, pepper spray, dog stuff and other baubles in there but it also has 4 spare mags lining one pocket and they're all properly indexed and strapped in. I strap my enigma on with my Shield X and then...

Springfield Hellcat Pro BB Gun Review — Red Dot Ready Air Pistol

BB guns are fun to shoot. As a kid we setup an indoor gallery in our basement with a big cardboard BB trap and shot for hours and hours. We had shelves with sloping cardboard beneath them so the BBs could penetrate the cardboard but couldn't bounce back and would funnel themselves all down to...

Would you carry an Old (design) Gun?

Bullets don't change effectiveness based on the age of the gun. I think the # of 1911s, SA-35s etc still running around in people's holsters todays can speak to that. There are definitely guns I wouldn't carry from any age but stuff made from the 1900's and up is still relatively modern. I...

The SIG P365 Family: Still the Benchmark for Everyday Carry

My only obvious complaint is the P365 has a pretty large height over bore compared to some of it's competition but it was definitely one of the first. And that's an admittedly minor complaint. When I was researching my last micro compact purchase I was pretty much decided on a P365 while I was...

    First Look: Echelon Alpha 4.0C

I always kinda liked the cocking tabs or whatever you call them on the side of the echelon slide. That alone pushes me away from the alpha. And the more I think about the COA, I think I'd just prefer a Holosun EPS gold dot instead.

    Smaller Guns for Defense?

.22lr wouldn't be my choice for defense but the "Fudge I've been shot" factor might be one of the biggest unknowns in the world. People don't tend to take kindly to being shot and many times that alone is enough to break contact and get away.

    Smaller Guns for Defense?

.22lr was used to kill like ~8 people in Pikes County Ohio. Two brothers murdered the whole family of one of their ex-wives in a custody dispute all assassination style in the night. Gruesome ****. .22lr will definitely kill with a headshot.

Macular Degeneration - what to do about shooting?

This one is better but still isn't quite capturing how bright it appears to the naked eye.

Macular Degeneration - what to do about shooting?

So I popped it off my gun and tried taking some pics out the window using my cellphone and I honestly don't think the camera does it justice. It appears much brighter IRL than the camera makes it out to be. IRL it's super easy to see even in the bright daylight looking at green trees. I think...

Macular Degeneration - what to do about shooting?

I know it seems a little counter intuitive that a yellow reticle would be easier to see, especially in daylight but I think the magic is in the lens coating. It hits that perfect intersection of being highly visible, crisp and also not blending into the background OR being overwhelmed by it...

Macular Degeneration - what to do about shooting?

Great. I find it's best in the bright areas, it's more crisp and defined. Especially on otherwise difficult backgrounds. Red especially can get lost "in the noise" to me. It's almost more of an amber or yellow maybe than gold but I'm a huge fan.

    Smaller Guns for Defense?

I think it's like 9/10ths about the holster. With a proper enigma setup I could carry a ~20rd, 4.5" duty size pistol fairly easy. You have to commit to your gun, carry it daily and tweak the holster until it's right. It took me several months of wearing, dealing with issues and fixing them...

Macular Degeneration - what to do about shooting?

Men in general tend to have less red/green receptors in their eyes and the gold definitely seems more defined and sharper. Especially against bright backgrounds and I've read gold is good for astigmatism too. I have two otherwise identical ARO EVOs, one red and one gold, and the gold is the...

Macular Degeneration - what to do about shooting?

I'm red/green colorblind and find the Gold dots from holosun to be much easier to see against bright backgrounds. I'm not sure it'll help here but I'm not buying any other color dots in the future.

Kuna Optics Experiences After Almost a Year?

I almost just want a larger holosun EPS style sight. Enclosed, square reflex style sight that mounts low to the rail. Window size doesn't need to be huge since it's meant for both eyes open shooting anyways. Hmm, that gets me thinking, maybe I should look through pistol sights and see if...

    Smaller Guns for Defense?

It's not. No one ever gets to say "wait, let me go grab my gun". It's why I stress you should always carry 24/7 and having a proper holster.
