    Gun Forums of Yore...

Cliques and drama and personal rivalries were a big part of M4Carbine.net's collapse too. (Full disclosure, I'm a mod there. We're not a Gunhub level ghost town, but it's the same handful of diehards every day and we really need more AR/M4/shooting discussion to bring it back.) Oh, forgot to...

After one botched safety and a replacement, FINALLY have one fitted that locks tight and works right... now I need to tear this big b**ch down again far enough to extract the trigger and cut the oertravel stop down by 1/16". (That's why no mag catch, the OT works by contacting the catch and rigt...

Steve's obit thread over on Ruger Forum: https://www.rugerforum.com/threads/mia-snake45.315295/ I'd post at GunHub but there's nobody left there except the advertiser.

Thanks - I mainly only listed the ones I remembered being part of. Maybe this thread can help reconnect old buddies if enough chime in... wonder what happened to Kevin Gibson, Chubby Pigeon, "Stand Watie" and csmkersh just for a few.

I just found out that we lost @Snake45 about two years ago, not long after he first suggested I check this place out... and it reminded me of all those people I knew 20-25 years ago in college and fallen forums from those days. Drop a post and reminisce a little if back then you were a member...

What would you like to see from SA?

I'd like to see Springfield announce either formal adoption of the Barrett Rule ("if your proles can't have it your cops can't eiher) and some serious sponsorship of NRA/SAF/FPC lawfare against the Gunstapo.

More annoying, everywhere else I've been finding that does anything like nickeling or chroming is strictly "no polishing" now, once in a while one offers satin but it seems to be the norm that "it's matte or go find someone else."

Wright's Armory had a big rep for it here in the PNW (taking your parts and forwarding 'em to Barrkman's other firm CTL in part of a bulk order, then doing whatever needed on return) but now they only offer something called NT7 and it's matte-only. :(

Unfortunately, that 7" monster is all carbon steel on the frame and slide. :( So stuff like hard-chrome and similar coatings.

Crazy question on the big beast... any advice for getting a durable but bright mirror-shine (like, bright enough to use as a shaving mirror) finish?

    Japan’s Underwater Aircraft Carriers

Sloppy research, calling Japanese subs I-class is like calling all German subs U-class, More accurate would be to refer to them as classes by the complete lead boat number (ex. I-400 class) or their Japanese classes (ex. for I-400 ST or Sen-Toku), much as we refer to the German U-boats by theirs...

I'm still trying to get an appointment with Orthopedics for a first look, my right arm's just been in a sling since mid September. Lucky thing I spent my first twenty years with limited use of my right arm... it's just remembering the old workarounds, though changing my shirts is still sporty. LOL

Yeah, a 7" isn't a carry gun but more a BBQ or Bedside one.

Hopefully, slathering the frame and slide in Krylon will be enough barrier to keep the humid air off for however many weeks to few months it takes. Hopefully it won't be long enough to need cosmoline or anything like that... The slide sides aren't bare metal, it's metallic chrome spray and a...

One last pic with a temporary anticorrosion Krylon on so the big girl can go into storage until my broken weak-side collarbone heals.

A friend who used to do competitive bodybuilding estimates it will take two *years* to get my shoulders and the bonebags hanging from them ready for cracking off her first .450SMC round. Should be quite docile with "minus-P" (aka .45 Auto) though.

Update on the Longslide... Left to do is mainly find or replace the trigger, find a way to keep the mainspring housing shoved home while I pin it and install the sights.

    Prodigy/AOS BUIS height question

For my Longslide I've been working on, I've been looking at the Agency Optics System (aka Prodigy plate system) as a possible way to quickly swap between sights for different needs: irons for lo-pro carry and certain iron-only matches, Acro for some situations, RMSc for others. Question is, how...

    Why This Forum?

Be careful about using the F-word in the company of an individual who once got a real stinker of a prof ousted by weaponized flatulence... NEVER underestimate the disgustive power of a fratboy with a Mason jar and a steady supply of Taco Hell for fuel. *evil laugh*

Twenty YEARS in the making and still under construction... 7" Longslide, .450 Short Magnum. It's a mix of Caspian, Fusion, EGW and Wilson Combat parts - four great teams have helped me with this thing over the two decades of planning and construction, and I wanted to make sure each got some...
