I’ve had that happen three times over the years with long rifle rounds. The last one blew the extractor, spring and plunger out of the bolt of my old Remington 597 and nearly blew my eardrum out. I know where was my ear protection.

Looks like carbon/lead buildup. Might take more than some solvent and a patch. You may need to get something like some copper Chore Boy pot scrubbers and put some around an old brush or tight fitting patch and scrub it.
