Per SA’s customer service the plate screws on the XD and Hellcat (cover plate) are 15 inch pounds. I would use a torque indicator and forget the lock tight. This is what I have done with several different SA pistols and haven’t had any come loose or strip any threads yet. FWIW.

Buy a newer mod 2. The XDs isn’t worth the cost of machining. I don’t think the older slide can be machined for dot due to the way the extractor and striker safety sit in the slide. James the xdman would be the final word on that.

The newer ccw’s also have the 10min shutdown. I bought a second one when I noticed vortex had fixed this issue. I wish they would exchange the older 14hr ones for a new 10min model.

Look into the XDm elite 10mm. I think you will find it superior to the M&P.

IMO drawing, presenting, reholstering, and mag changes can all be mastered in the home with dry type repetitive practice. Accuracy on the other hand can only truly be improved by live fire. A trigger press should be able to be mastered in a dozen or so repetitions but doing it with recoil and...

I thought from the title you were talking about changing magazines.😜 It seems way easier to transport extra loaded ammo than all the individual components. I mean if any one component or tool gets lost or contaminated you’re s.o.l.
