    Family Stories

Dad never talked much about WW II. What I know of his service was put together from little bits of info he let slip over the years. A simple farm boy, he was drafted in 1942. He was the gunner on a M1919 machine gun crew. I'm not absolutely sure, but I think he got in on the tail end of the...

    Surviving an upcoming "Doomsday"

That's why Memphis is on all our enemies primary target list. Its a major transportation hub, a junction for two major interstate highways and one of the few places where you can cross the Mississippi River. One really wouldn't expect places like Dyersburg, Tn or West Helena, Ark to be nuke...

    Surviving an upcoming "Doomsday"

I wouldn't call myself a prepper, but back in 2003, Hurricane Elvis taught me some valuable lessons. In the event of long term power outages, plague, civil unrest or such, I got enough stashed away to keep me going for 3 maybe 4 months. The trick is gonna be keeping my old butt alive for that...

    Surviving an upcoming "Doomsday"

If Doomsday turns out to be nuclear war, I'm fried anyway. I saw a chart one time of potential enemy nuclear targets that put 5 of them in the Memphis area. I might be far enough out to survive the initial blast, but I'd no doubt slowly die of radiation exposure. I'd rather just die...

not ever funny.....but typical of my state's infrastructer

Infrastructure in this country is in really bad shape. Government is wasting money needed to repair that on all their free give away programs. 🤬

    Gunsmithing question: Mirrored finishes?

If its stainless or even bare steel, all you need is a can of Mother's Mag Polish and some elbow grease. ;)

    .380 vs .32 - Make mine .32!

I believe that the .32 calibers, both auto and revolver, are highly under rated. If you do your part, they will get the job done. I'd have no problem carrying one and actually have from time to time. (y) However, for a small gun, I do prefer my baby 1911. My Colt Mustang .380. ;)

33 U.S. House Members Urge Trump To Restore Gun Rights, Name A Pro-2A AG

I'd love to see a true pro-2A Ag. But more than likely Trump will pick another one of ultra loyal idiot followers again. 🤬

Is New NRA Same as the Old?

The NRA is trying hard to reform. However, a lot of LaPierre's cronies still sit on the board. Its gonna take at least two more election cycles to clean enough of them out for real change to take place. I wish them luck, but only time will tell.

    How long should it take?

Stuff happens. I bought a gun on GB once from a shop in Florida. They had a hurricane before it shipped. It took a while, but I did get it. How long has it been since you made the purchase? If less than 10 days, just be patient. If it hasn't shipped by then, contact the seller again and tell...

Was the 1911’s Grip Safety a Mistake?

The grip safety has never bothered me at all. I'm fine with it. Gunrunner, you should try one of the grip safeties that has the "speed bump" on it. That should cure your problem and many gun makers are putting them in from the factory now. Way back in the 1950s or so, the hot trend was to...

SHORAD: The Old Is New Again — The Return of Short Range Air Defense

1972-1974 I was a mechanic in C Btry, 2nd Btn, 5th Air Defense Artillery, 2nd Armored Div, Ft Hood, Texas. The Chaparral Missile system. Basically a Sidewinder fired from a ground launcher mounted in a tracked weapons carrier. You got a few looks at it in the video. ;) Our battalion was made up...

Of all the things that a soldier might encounter, I'd think bears would be near the bottom of the list. YIKES!

Ruger SR1911 LW Commander in 38 Super

Yeah, the big problem with 38 Super is that most of the major ammo makers have watered it down until its barely more than a 9mm. If you want true 38 Super performance, you gotta either handload or buy boutique ammo. I do handload, but I've settled on Cor-Bon 125gr JHP as my carry load...
